Whazzup????

WWW
« on: August 27, 2009, 07:30:46 PM »

Day before yesterday, we operated on a ladies ankle.  She was in Canada and stepped off a sidewalk edge.  She broke her ankle.  She went to the government run hospital.  They put a "walking cast" on her.  A synthetic cast with a plastic "walking heel" in the bottom.  They sent her on her way with pain meds, crutches and copies of her xrays.  Instructed her to see an orthopedic surgeon when she gets home for "follow up care".
She went to the ortho doc here.  We did the surgery and put a plate and screws in her outside ankle.  During the surgery we joked about "who" she was gonna sue up there.....the Canadian government??  No.....it would be US even though she was misinformed and give at best "minimal" care of this break.  Her ONLY saving grace is that she is a small framed, underweight woman.  AND she is not menopausal.
Now the doc there in Canada did not tell her anything about her break being displaced and needing surgery.  She walked on an ankle with breaks on both sides of the ankle.  When we got into the ankle......her ankle WAS NOT going to heal in the configuration it was in.  The bone had soft tissue in the fracture.  Soooo......under Obama's Canadian based plan this woman would spend 6-8 weeks trying to "heal" a non healing fracture.  THEN she would have to wait several weeks to get into a surgeon and have her fracture fixed.   DO YOU REALLY WANT THIS KIND OF CARE?????  I mean REALLY?????
My statement is this........IF Obama wants to fashion this country's Government Healthcare on Canada's system.  As he touts that it is a "functioning" model for this country's healthcare.  I'm sorry their running record is NOT worthy of ANY praise.....whatsoever.
Oh and this woman was in Canada for 2 weeks AFTER the injury.   People better think about this.  This is NOT a good move.

I know the flamers are out there.  This is a situation NOT heard of by me.....not made up......this is a first person telling of the FACTS.  So flame on!!!

Crap immediate emergency care can be found in many of our current US emergency rooms and healthcare facilities, not just Canada.

I don't know the answer to the healthcare fix but lets think about it, this poor quality care is not at all acceptable but it happens here and now too under the current structure.

Not Bush, Hillary or Obama, just poor quality care, unfortunately it exists everywhere and these clinicians continue to be allowed to practice. Thats a problem. Its the actual provider of the sh*tcare that your ammo needs to be focussed on.

That's when you realize you no longer patronize that particilar facility physician if at all possible.

Be ready for plenty more crap propaganda to help twist your minds both ways, try not to get too hornswoggled on all the BS ads, emails, etc.

Agreed, but won't a government funded plan further encourage this kind of care?

We need reforms.......yes! but not a complete government take over

We need legal (torte) reform, but its not in the bill because lawyer special interest groups wont allow it.  Isint that funny Obama won using the platform, he will be different and special interest groups will no longer shape policy.

We need Insurance law reform so companies can compete between states

And we need illegal immigration reform, so they quit sucking all the money out of the system.

If we did those things and nothing more, but did them well, that may be all we have to do.  Then there might even be enough money left over to subsidize insurance for many of the unisured AMERICANS that really need help.
