One more turn should do it!

Kent, Ohio

  Good Monday morning,
    Is their such a thing?
Started the Valk for the first time since rolling her from storage. The Gremlins struck over the long NE Ohio winter!
Applied the front brake to check lighting, no brake light? Checked rear brake, light came on. I have no idea, never ever have had this problem before. Any ideas?

The switch in question is under the front brake master cylinder.  Listen carefully and you should hear a click as you press on the lever.  It helps to have the engine off when doing this...

Had the same problem this spring , I took off the switch { 1 screw } snapped it on & off a couple times { pushing the the little lever in and letting it go } it worked fine after that . It turns the brake light on in the out position . New ones on Amazon for $10.00 and less .

That  is one thing I did notice. I can hear the switch clicking when I pull the lever in.
I will have to take it apart and have a look.
Thanks for steering me in a direction. As I said before, this is a new one. One of these things that works when you put it away and doesn't the next time you use it .

Sometimes it can be the brass bushing the lever pivots on; it gets worn and/or out of round.  As I recall, the Suzuki one is the same as the Honda one, but cheaper.

From Jeff K's Shoptalk generic parts list.  (I don't know if its the same for clutch and brake levers)

Clutch lever bushing

The Honda part Number 2285-MBO-006 is $10

The Suzuki part number 59892-08A00 is $3 and exactly the same part.

Something to put in your road tools - Radio Shack sells contact cleaner and lubricant - if your problem is dirty contacts inside the switch, or even where the wires connect - the spray is a fast albeit temporary fix, especially if you're on a trip when it fails.

Had about the same experience with mine.  I did put a bit of WD-40 on a rag and wiped the shaft of the switch plunger.  Cleaned up, it continues to perform flawlessly.  It's been over about a month now.

Hey MarkT and others,
Radio Shack is closing it's stores nation wide so if you have one near you still open go buy your supplies now. I missed the store closing sale here. My wife told me they were even selling the display fixtures.  Cry
