Is there any way to quiet the front calipers from clacking all the time on the pins?  The brakes work fine, I'm used to the clunking when I apply the brakes – floating calipers – but they clack every time I hit bumps too.  Do I need to replace the pins, or do something else, or is this normal?  I've seen other posts about this – I might've made one myself too – and somebody's feedback I think was to grease the pins, but I can't imagine that would quiet the clacking. Thanks for your help.

If you want one butter smooth and quiet as a mouse pissing on cotton maybe you should get an f6-b or a wing. You have to realize we are riding dinasours ,the newest old Valk out there is 12-13 yrs old.

Did you use OEM brake pads? The clicking can be an ill fitting aftermarket brake pad backing plate moving in the caliper. Use some brake grease and lube the backside of the pad and edges of the backing plate where it contacts the caliper as well as the caliper pins.

This answers how I stopped the clacking. This is a recent thread, how did you miss it?

No, I didn't miss it, I tried it and it didn't work for me.  maybe I used the wrong type of hose or too long a section, but it made things worse.  You can see one of my replies in that post is asking the question about using a weak compression spring between the pads on the retainer pin instead of a hose, but i haven't tried doing that yet.

No, I'm on aftermarket pads, but maybe I'll try OEMs.  While I'm in there I'll try some grease on the backside of the pads like you're saying.  Thanks for the tip.
