I don't know if it is the same dealer, but I purchased a red 2014 at that price. I pick it up on Thursday so I've been looking at things like Hard bags, throttle locks, hiway pegs and windshields.

The owner said he had a large windshield on display that he would sell me at cost, so I took it, hoping it will be tall enough to eliminate buffeting.

Any suggestions on hiway pegs? I was hoping to find something that will be adjustable back and forth and up and down. Something that will hold up and not rust.

Once I have the bike in hand, I will order the hard bags.

I got a set of those cool looking RIVCO billet pegs that fold into
the valve covers, but I didn't think they were comfortable...

Now I have long-arm Kuryakyn 4050s... they are great!... if long-arms
are too long, they have medium and short...

I met the dealer that I purchased the 2014 Valkyrie 1/2 way because he was about 6 1/2 hours from where I live. Loaded the new Valkyrie (red) w/ windshield and headed to the DMV.

I took it for a couple of short rides last night..........What a nice bike!

Loved it so much I ordered Corbin hard bags to match and will probably order a throttle lock and highway pegs today.

I love my '98 standard with hard bags, mc cruise and many other options that make it MY bike but this new Valkyrie is a whole new level of excitement.

It seems if I spend another $3k or so I will have a bike that will easily out perform bikes twice what I will have in my new Valkyrie.

Oh yeah,

Thanks Dan for the original heads up on the low pricing. I went and test rode one the same day and ended up with a new one.

I've ridden the old Valkyrie, and while is was OK by my standards, it doesn't hold up against the performance and convenience of the new one.  I'm glad they finally made one, even if it's just for a couple of years.

I agree, if they don't sell, they will discontinue them.

Unless something happens to drastically change the sales outlook, yep I think the new Valkyrie is destined to die. It's unfortunate. While I was in the camp of liking the new Valkyrie, I do agree with a lot of folks who would have preferred Honda had kept the styling a little more like the original.

The F6B would possibly suffer the same fate, but it seems the 15s are selling better. Just an opinion based on word of mouth and internet traffic.

Frankly, I was in the market for something new. Have always owned Hondas from dirt to street. If it wasn't for the flat six options, I would have bought another brand. Honda are you listening???? coolsmiley

Jimmy,

Your last comment was perfect, "Honda are you listening"?

There are so many "very small things" Honda can do to make themselves even bigger in the motorcycle industry. Things that are just WRONG.

1. Having to step up 3 expensive models to get ABS on the Goldwing.....That should be standard, just for safety
2. Self canceling turn signals on all street models.....again, for safety.
3. Throttle locks
4. Having more after market options for their bikes.....Hard bags for the new Valkyrie, Plug and play cruise control.

I am willing to spend $ for those items when even Harley Davidson has them as a Standard.

Unfortunately, Harley can't come close when it comes to their power plant (engine).

They are flirting with water cooling their engines with a 1.1 quart reservoir (way to small) to be effective.

Sadly I have to agree.  The new Valkyrie seems to be following the same path as the original, only on an expedited schedule.  As I remember 2001 was the last year for the Tourer and Interstate, then by 2003 the only model was a black standard, then it was gone.

I don't know why Honda can't keep low volume 'niche' bikes in production when other manufacturers do.  Kawasaki built the original Concours for about 20 years, even though sales were slow enough that they didn't build any for a couple of model years here and there.  Yamaha built the Venture for countless years and was still making the Royal Star version until a year or two ago.  And, wouldn't it be nice if they brought a new Venture with the 1700 VMax engine?

Hopefully Honda keeps these bikes going long enough for more riders to discover how awesome the flat 6 platform is.  Maybe at least the F6B will survive, as it seems to be selling somewhat better.  It can't cost Honda that much to keep it in the line as only a handful of parts differ from the big Wings.

I think the problem is that dealers "floor plan" costs eat up any potential profit if they sit on the showroom floor too long. As with most business ventures you need to turn that inventory. At $11k they should be flying out the door. I gave more tham that for my 99 standard back in 2000.

I paid $12,200 for a 2005 VTX1800R in 2006........

$12000 for a new Valkyrie is nice.  Hopefully more people buy them now.

Never seen such a deal at $12000. This bike does everything incredible. I've been riding for 44 years, owned numerous brands and designs and none do what this bike does. Everywhere I ride it people stop me and ask what is it cause they love it. Honda did zero promotion on this dream bike to our benefit on sales pricing. I guess they forgot you have to market new bikes even when they are this good. I bought it to ride it for a year and brake even at these price points, but I can't imagine parting with it. Thanks Honda for a great bike at a great price. Grin

Sad but true, I'm afraid  Undecided

The worst part is we never got an option for aftermarket exhaust! Or much of any nice aftermarket goodies, really. Not that I'd want much more from the factory setup.

Maybe in another 10yrs they'll bring it back again  cooldude

There are exhausts for the F6B that should fit.  They will just stick back further than our OE exhausts.  Not that there is anything wrong with our exhausts.  I love the sound.

Theoretically, but no one has tried yet that I know of.  The only aftermarket exhaust so far cut and welded the collector so that question was never answered.

Yeah, he posted (or at least sent me when I asked, can't remeber) the photos.  It's more work than its worth in my opinion.  Especially since Power Commander doesn't make a map for any aftermarket pipes for the Valkyrie, let alone home made ones
