Hey folks,

I have accommodations at GZ with two other ladies with hopes that one of us gets there early enough to get a rollaway bed.  I was the last one to sign up, so I'll be on the rollaway.  I am not sure where I will sleep if we don't get one.  So ...... If anyone has lost their roommate and has a room with an extra bed, please let me know.

I will be riding in from Alabama ... arriving Sunday and planning to stay all week.  This is my first big rally, so I am super excited!

If anyone has any tips for packing, I welcome hearing them.

Thanks all!

Pack light and don't rule out camping.  If you can go mostly synthetic then you can go with my mantra of "wear and a spare".  Wash out synthetics at any convenient water source on the road and they dry really fast.  Coolmax is my favorite underwear synthetic.  My other traval mantra is: "Take half the crap you think you need and twice the money".  For what its worth, I am not following any of my own advice for this trip (cotton is king and I am poor and will be camping).

I will be coming from Northern California but when I leave I will be going to Andersonville, Georgia via Minneapolis and Nashville.  Maybe you could share some route planning with me.

I would imagine with the handle "Sweet Cheeks" you will have little problem finding a roommate. Now if your handle really is "Swet Cheeks" that changes things a little  2funny

THIS showed up AFTER I made rooming arrangements with my brother!  Undecided Large soulful sigh here. My brother is married!  Lips Sealed I on the other hand am single!  cooldude Pack light. Any prescription drugs make sure you have enough if you stay out longer than planned. If your tires are close to the wear bars think about replacing before you leave. If any of this is applicable make sure your tags your insurance your license your C C W permit are all current and will remain current til you get back home. Bring all vehicle services up to date BEFORE you depart. In my travels I've found places that won't take plastic. Have some ready cash on hand. Consider a stuff bag-similar to a sea bag/barracks bag except its made of strong plastic and when closed correctly it's water proof. On my I/S I use 2 1" ratchet straps to hold my bag on the passenger seat. Make cursed SURE that when you go to reserve on your fuel tank it actually works on reserve-BEFORE you leave and DEFINITELY before you NEED it.  cooldude Looking forward to meeting you in person at I-15!   coolsmiley RIDE SAFE. P S-got my stuff bag at wal mart-camping section.

Thanks for the tips everyone.  I packed waaayyyyy too much, but I am a woman, so that was to be expected.  My tag, tires, and CCW are all in good shape.

I left Bama last Friday so I could take my time and enjoy the ride.  Arrived in Hot Springs, SD this afternoon.  Aside from melting part of my rain suit onto my exhaust and a slight mechanical malfunction, it has been an awesome ride. I would like to have had a bit more sunshine, but, what the hell.  Hopefully we will have good weather next week.

I have been blessed to find an extra bed at GZ, so I am all set.   (Thanks Mike)

I am super excited about meeting everyone!  Ride safe and watch the weather.  Some of it has been a real bear!

Just for the record, I did not pick "Sweet Cheeks".  That was given to me when I first met Smokin Joe's group.   Wink

Janice, you need to stay away from that rowdy bunch Smokin Joe runs with.

They will get you in trouble 3  directions to heaven.

So how was your IZ stay?

Enjoyable I hope.

I hear ya RJ.  InZane was fun.  I just wish I had been able to meet more people.

I left Spearfish with 3 other bikes and went through Beartooth Pass, Yellowstone, and the Grand Tetons.  We went our separate ways in Colorado last week.

I am finally headed home (in Oklahoma tonight).  This has been my first BIG ride.  I should hit the 6,000 mile mark.  It has been awesome.  Can't wait to do it again!

How about you?

I'm stuck on O2 (oxygen) 24/7 and can't find a good concentrator for travel.   Tanks only last 3 to 5 hours, so not much time to meet my O2 needs.    Then, no way to refill them like at home.   I sure as hell won't drag the concentrator around on the battery.

I haven't been to IZ since the last one in Colorado.

I did have #1, Zanesville, OH to the Colorado (I think it was #9) all in sequence till I had to stop.

So a month ago, I sold my Valkyrie Trike to my youngest son, and my Chevy Trike to my daughter.  That way no hassle for mom when I croak.

It got to be the only one I could ride was the Chevy.    Only one I could get on.

Awww, I hate to hear that.

You could always fly in to the rally and just visit with everyone.....Maybe next year.

Take care of yourself.
