Hello Tech Boarders,

Fired up my 2000 IS, about 73k miles on her, and she at least looks to be leaking from the right rear carb bowl, if not others. I shut her down and turned off the gas. She has sat, side stand, for maybe 2 months, rode her a bit this year, less than a couple hundred miles, but otherwise she's sat for much of the winter being fired up every couple weeks.

So I fired her up and went over to fire up my 97, came back to kick the choke off, gave her some slow rev's and then noticed a pretty good puddle on the floor and then the gas dripping from at least the right rear bowl. Top of the motor also had a pretty good pool of gas as well.

What do you think, where should I start?

Side note: I have not done anything to or with the carbs and at this point I'm somewhat carb ignorant.  uglystupid2

TIA - As always, your feedback and shared knowledge is much appreciated.

Well, if it were me Gary, I would try to determine EXACTLY where the gas was coming from... Then depending on that, I might just take it for a ride to shake things up.  Gas leaks after sitting have been know to seal themselves up.

Gary, I would suspect it is the carb rails leaking. Possibly a float stuck. If you can determine it is coming from a carb overflow , I would tap on the float bowl with a a screwdriver handle or something similar. If it's the fuel rails leaking chances are they will quit shortly. At least that has been my experience. Are you going to make it to Inzane ? Hope to see you there  cooldude

I'll have a chance to check a little better today, thanks for the suggestions. It was a pretty good amount leaking out.  Undecided

Inzane - Still not sure Rob, the IS could use front and rear tires, the standard might be OK for a round trip but it could use a front tire pretty soon itself. It'll be some great riding for sure, even the to/from.  cooldude

Finally getting a chance to pull the IS out and get a closer look.

Rolled her out to an open air area, tapped on the carb's a few times before starting her up, fired her up and so far so good. We'll see how she holds up. She was flowing gas pretty well when I last reported.

Thanks again Pancho & Meathead for the feedback, much appreciated!  cooldude
