I helped a fellow Valkyrierider change out his Progressive shocks yesterday.  I have never seen such destruction!  He noticed oil had leaked out all over the final drive housing and swing arm, so he figured the shock blew a seal.  when we unbolted the thing it just fell apart and oil poured out everywhere.  And I was thinking, since he had ridden quite a ways with it leaking that it must have been empty, but nooooo

Anyway, I have heard of this particular brand leaking but not self destructing like this.  I was surprised the motorcycle could even be ridden as bad as this thing was.

Progressive cut him a good deal on selling him replacements, I just dont know if I could go with them after such a thing, is that unusual?

I'd say it is unusual (really for any shock).....but it may not be unexpected if he put 10K after they were leaking.

Why wouldn't progressive give him new ones? 440s are guaranteed for life if they have the receipt.
