We had some major flooding here in Central Texas last night. Two major waves of storms rolled through carrying rain, high winds and a few tornados. The Blanco River near Wimberley crested close to 10ft. over it's previous 1929 record 33ft. crest. It was reported that 60 swift water rescues were happening in the area at around 3:45 AM…just before the second wave of storms hit!
I-35 was flooded downstream in San Marcos and upstream it was reported that the Blanco River Bridge on Fischer Store Road was washed out. (Plenty of us VRCC'ers have ridden across that bridge!)
Downtown Wimberly was flooded. Here's some pics posted to Facebook from a local photographer…
The "Antiques" sign on the right is one of our favorite shops in Wimberley
More flooded shops within walking distance from the Wimberley Cafe…a favorite among us VRCCer's

Blanco River Bridge at RR12 heading into WimberleyThis photo posted by a friend of mine who lives about 1200ft. from where his neighbor's house stood just yesterday!
This is along the Blanco, just downstream from RR12The Chest Club Cafe in Blanco posted to Facebook that they will be closed today due to the fact that they cannot get to their restaurant! No picks from that area, but let's hope folks there weathered the storm OK.
The Pedernales River was well over it's banks near Fredericksburg and Johnson City, but no reports of damage…yet.
The Rio Frio in Leakey was flooding along with the Guadalupe in Hunt, Kerrville and Springbranch, the Medina River in Medina and Bandera as well as Cibolo Creek near Boerne. The Nueces was flooding near Camp Wood and even more down stream.
These are only a few…
So, what makes this Valk related? A lot…not only do us CenTex VRCCer's live in these parts, but these areas are where we all love to ride! This will effect riding the Three Sisters (RR335, RR336 and RR337) and much of the Hill Country for some time to come.
Ride Safe and remember "
Turn Around Don't Drown!"
Happy Memorial Day weekend y'all!
