That seal on the driveshaft at the pinion cup seems a bit tricky to change.  I do that because the Honda and Clymer books say it is required.  This part should not wear at all.  Do you guys change it regularly?  Any tips on making it an easy  one man job?

The best tip for making it an easy job is to leave it well alone !!!!!

If it's not split / broken at all, then just lube it along with everything else and  re-fit.

Easy as easy gets mate..............

Leave it alone as said above.  BUT to change it, you need to remove the spring at the U-Joint end.  That is the fun part.   I used a bench vice, pair of vice grip pliers, and a clip remove plier to get spring off.

Unless, of course, its messed up.  Very easy to change...one little clip at the forward end and everything slides off.  Just look closely which way the seal goes

As said, that seal doesn't do much especially if its only separating the dirt and the grease. It may have some more importance if its sealing oil like seems to be the case in some instances.

I don't find a problem with changing them, its easy. I only changed mine because I decided to add oil to the splines. If I were only greasing the splines as usual I would have left the seal alone.
