One of the rides got interesting with something we did not expect.

Ed, James friend, let us on a ride and we were on our way to lunch at the Pisgah Inn on the Blue ridge Pkwy.
We were about 4 miles away and rain started to come down, nothing unexpected as it had rained every afternoon, when all of the sudden I hear a couple of "TICK, TICK" noises on my helmet, "WHAT KIND OF BUG COULD THAT BE?" I thought and then it all broke loose.

HOLY HAIL BATMAN

Nothing we could do but to keep on riding, Nick and Rob with only half helmets and trying to cover their faces with one hand and then .............."SAFETY" in the form of a tunnel, Ed, Mike and Liz, the first two bikes, kept going past the tunnel and the rest of us stopped for cover. Grin
The tunnel got cold and it became a wind tunnel and then the water started bringing the hail inside, nothing to do but to wait it out, seems like half an hour went by when all of the sudden the first two bikes came rolling back to the tunnel, waited for another 30 to 40 minutes for the rain and hail to stop and for the hail to melt some so we could safely ride the roads.

Kind of stinks when you are in the middle of the situation but it makes for a great story afterwards  Grin

Here are some pics

And we did finally get to the lunch spot for a well deserved lunch and break
