Hello
My first post !

The stock Honda windshield that came with my  Valk is aged and unclear. I have a price of €400 ($400 odd) here in Europe  to replace just the plastic which seems like a lot. There are aftermarket versions cheaper.

Is the stock Honda shield as good as people say or is there better out there ?

Thanks

Many use these with the stock mount hardware.

(I'm assuming you have a Tourer, remember to specify your bike when asking stuff about parts)

I'm assuming you have a OEM Tourer shield too...

The "really good" thing about your OEM shield is the almost
irreplaceable hardware.

Clearview make a real good replacement for the plastic...

If you didn't have the hardware, Memphis Shades makes
a shield+hardware for the Valkyrie called a Switchblade,
I've seen them on some really nice bikes...

This black bike has the Memphis Shades, and that's my Red bike behind
it with OEM hardware and shorter-than-stock Clearview plastic...

My bike is a 98 Tourer. I replaced the shield with the 2 inch shorter than stock Tinted Clearview this spring. Love the shield the customer service is great.
Couple of differences with the shorter shield. The increase in wind turbulence is okay but more than I figured. Rain comes over the shorter shield and gets me at eye level the OEM sent it over my helmet. Lose the clarity of my music at 45 mph.
Tinted is nice I had a tinted shield on a Goldwing. One day just after this install cruising looking over the 2 " shorter shield I realized my beard was being protected from the suns dangerous rays. Smiley  Glad I have good eye protection the eye doctor said I should use.

Forgot I got the vent.  Moving the air around in the pocket behind the shield helps.

Welcome!

I second the nod to Clearview.  I recently replaced my hazed OEM shield with a stock height, slightly wider shield from Clearview.  I had the vent included.  I paid right at $250.  I believe it would have been around $200 without the vent.

Turbulence seems the norm for the Valks with Tourer windshields.  I did find that the addition of Baker Air Wings virtually eliminated it.  Although it's too hot to have them completely closed, the "half open" position gives me cool(er) breezes and nearly complete elimination of irritating turbulence.

Mike, I'm pretty sure the Switchblade is from National Cycle, not Memphis Shades (which has the Fats, and others).

http://www.nationalcycle.com/switchblade-hd.html

It sounds like he has the stock Honda hardware, so Clearview would be the better choice (but it does not wrap around the headlight like OE does).

I have no idea what shipping overseas would be, or Britannia's lovely taxes.  (I once shipped new shocks to Canada, re-boxed and marked used motorcycle parts)

Would suggest a hunt around and ask some questions, particularly of the sports bikers. They like tinted etc which are usually custom
In Perth West Australia ( city of just over 1 million) we have a small shop catering to bike windshields, mostly sports but also do cruisers. Would guess there maybe similar else where.

As mentioned from others, a "Clearview" light tint replaced my aged stock shield on my standard using the Honda stock shield hardware. Good quality shield.  cooldude

I got a shorter, darker tint from Cee Bailey for my Interstate, also good quality.  cooldude
