I was heading around town. I dropped into a local grocery store to pick up a cheap deli sandwich and a drink. I was heading back to work. While loading up the lunch in the saddle bag I saw the guy coming across the parking lot.
I knew exactly what he wanted, so I waited a moment.
Guy, "Hey,"
Me, "Hi"
Guy, "Nice bike."
Me, "Thanks."
Guy,"Can I ask you a question?"

Yup. He had that can-I-ask-you-a-question look as he crossed the parking lot and I figured that he wanted to. I was right.
He wanted to know the year model.
Then we got to tlaking. I suppose I could have told him a 1998 and rode off. But I like chatting about the bike.
The sandwich wasn't going anywhere.

He asked good questions. He knew his bikes. He's looking to buy a Valk. I told him about the few around the area on Craigslist. He hadn't thought of that yet.

He used to drag-race 1040 sleeved CB750s. He had a few street versions of that bike. But he doesn't want to drag anymore, but he's not ready for a touring bike. He wants something in the middle. He is looking for fun and travel. He's looking for a Valk.

Good choice.

I mentioned the VRCC as he was leaving.

It'd be curious to see if he ever shows up.

I eventually did make it to work and grabbed my sandwich as I walking in the building. That just goes with owning one of these bikes I suppose.
