Just changed my oil at 400 miles to Mobil One 10/40 and a Pureone pl14610 filter and glad I did. The shifting is smoother and the bike is starting to settle in now that I did that and now have 550 miles on it. Changing the oil and filter even with the slightly longer filter is a breeze. Should take literally 10 minutes to do it. You do not have to remove the cowling either.
Hey Bob..
Doing my second oil change at 1500 miles...did the first at 700 miles. I am using Valvoline's 10-40w motorcycle oil....(petroleum based). Got the purolator filter, 5 qts for 18$ with tax! (using Meijer perks and 10% off) Next year I will switch to all synthetic...probably Amsoil's 10-30w full synth. btw...I hope you are using Mobil's 'racing' 4T synth man...Their car oil as friction modifiers and will eventually ruin your clutch. You wanna stay with bike oil dude...
