I decided that I didn't like the Honda sissy bar for our valk.  So, I decided to make my own to what I would like.  I took my cousin's sissy bar from his Victory Cross Country as inspiration.  I found that the Honda one stuck up too far, and I just needed something to hold my wife on the bike the odd time she rides with me, and be able to remove it when not needed.
I had most of the stuff here, I only just had to buy the 3/4" square tube.  I even had the backrest pad from another project.  The great thing is that it came out perfect the first time.  Fits my wife great.

cooldude   Totally agree - this looks like it should and like it goes with the bike.  So there you go - you did better than Mother Honda.   I like it!!!!

I broke down and got the honda backrest but since then, made my own luggage rack that bolts to the backrest frame and now got a hard trunk from viking, and made my own brackets, to mount it right behind me so I can lean on it as a back rest for me for long trips. Then comes off in 10 min. for easy one day rides. Its easy to cut and bend 1" or 1 1/2" alum. angle to do all kinds of custom things.   Riding again today and tomarrow....
