Re-posting to the correct board...

Seems to me that the valve covers on the 1800 Valkyrie should be chrome.  Has anyone done this, and if so, can you share pics?

Thanks,
Steve

The things we think of as valve covers on our 1500s are not that on the 1800.

The 1800 has two piece clamshell kind of things that cover spark plugs and stuff,
the center chromed strip is a plastic cover that hides how the rest of it
goes together...

I'd assume the clamshell parts could be chromed, and if the daddy goldwing
ever had chromed ones, they'd probably fit... the chrome ones from the
Rune seem very different though...

It can be done, and has been done.  There is the easy way, and the hard way.  The easy way is to order Kuryakyn lightning chrome valve covers for the GL1800 Goldwing, (direct fit) and apply directly over existing valve covers.  The hard way, remove your original valve covers or purchase used on ebay, and send to your favorite chrome shop. Wait weeks, replace onto your motorcycle. Either way, nice accent to the motorcycle and a quick way to make your stand out Valkyrie stand apart from the crowd!!!  While your at it, Kuryakyn makes a chrome cam chain cover which would go very nice with the lightning valve covers.  The hard way still works as it to can be unbolted, chromed, and replaced.

I want to do the opposite.  I want mine black.  I never see them for sale, though.  I guess I will get them powder coated this winter if I can afford it.

You could always buy the Kuryakyn valve covers and paint them black, that way it's reversible.

There are a lot of choices for valve covers on fleebay. Kury's are the best deal at $155 and up for a pair, OEM's new are $250+ each.
