At a little over 5600 miles on this setup I'm happy with the performance of both of these tires-wet and dry. June 13th on the way to my brothers place on U S 30 in Morrison Illinois I had the WET check!  crazy2 Course we had a wet check just getting to I-15. AND I had a wet check the last 50 miles getting home last Thursday. Today I did 210 miles a bunch of those miles on some of my favorite twistys here bouts. Both tires I M H O perform flawlessly! BUT since my brother used the DigiSync on my carbs I can break loose that Taxi tire a LOT easier now!  Roll Eyes IF yer on the fence about the Austone taxi Tire I'm here to tell you when it's time for another rear D/S tire it WILL be the Austone. cooldude I've read most of the negative reports on the Shinkos. I'm on my 3d Shinko and I see a 4th in my future. On the Shinkos i've had NO tire issues of any kind.  Wink And as an aside-both tires are balanced with B Bs this time around AND no/none/nada/zero issues with B Bs to 130 M P H indicated.  Smiley RIDE SAFE.

bbs turn into nasty corroded things after a while, but I'm guessing you
ride a set of tires off in a year easy...

I too was an advocate for Shinko tires, running them on both my old sport bike, and well as the Valkyrie. Just recently I had a Shinko Journey on the front, when sadly it started to de-laminate. Annoyingly the tire still had plenty of life left on it.

Please heed my advice here - out of the blue one day the steering on the Valkyrie went light. Then the next day developed a small bounce at very low speeds, and still very light steering at all speeds. The feeling was so odd that I suspected everything from suspension problems to bearing issues. Finally I put the bike on the lift and spun the front tire, and to my horror  Shocked saw bubbles had formed between the layers of rubber just under the tread.

So if your steering goes light, or you feel a small bounce at low speeds hopefully you will know what to check first.

Did you contact Shinko about it? I'll keep this in mind as I'm putting those tires on my bike.

I have had no issues with Shinko tires, except the shelf spares I had were recalled due to de lamination.  WPS finally replaced the Shinkos with Metzlers.  I did use a set of Se980 without issue tho.

And.....I did just check, I had a set of 747 recalled and replaced with a set of 757 and Then that set of 757s recalled by WPS, finally replaced with Metzlers.  Not sure of any 777 issues, but do some research.

No secret that I love the Austone.  With 13" HD shocks, it feels like it was made exclusively for the Valkyrie.

I'm guessing folks look to Shinko to save a few bucks which I can sure understand.  I was running Cobras on front but couldn't milk much more than 7-8 k out of 'em before the Western Colorado chip seal roads chewed them up.  Threw on a double dark Bridgestone Battlax BT-45 (with Ride-On for balance) and honestly don't notice a heck of a lot of difference other than the aggressive tread is just a bit louder.  I'm hoping to get at least 20k out of it, time will tell.

I did directly contact Shinko and was told by them to contact the company that I actually purchased the tire through. Unfortunately, I was not able to track down my records to find where I bought the tire, so I am SOL.

Seth, I was this close '  ' to going double darkside, but I chickened out. I put a Metzler ME880 on the front. I also replaced my rear shock bushings (on OEM shocks) when I put the new Hankook Optima on the rear, and adjusted the shocks to #2. I am really liking the ride. Now I just have to get brave enough to rebuild the front forks and put the new Progressive Springs in them.

Thought I'd add another positive voice for Shinko. I'm running a Tourmaster Bias tire.
150 80 / 17. This is my second one, and no problems so far, knock on noggin.

I've got a radial Falken Sincera 205 65 / 16 on back.
No problems with that tire either.

It concerns me when at least half of those who try Shinko have real trouble.
I am using it because it's about half the cost of the next best priced tire.

I'm really watching my fronts in case they go belly up.

Have the delaminated Shinkos all been radials?
