I am running through rear tires about every 4,000 miles.  I ride this bike very aggressively and keep the tire pressure spot on.  I have a lot of friends that run car tires on their wings and they love it.  They are getting over 20,000 miles as an average on these tires.  I have ridden two Goldwings with this set up and they seem to handle just as good in the twisties and better on the straights.  Has anyone changed to the Darkside on the new Valk?

I would like to go back to D/S as well however the rear being 180/55R-17 meaning the rear is not 16" as the full on wing F6B and 1 gen valk makes this interesting. Trying to find a tire that is 180 55 in a 17" is not panning out very well.  I ran a Michelin 205 60r 16 on my 2000 Interstate and was very happy and an Austone 175 16 that was 5.5" wide on my 1999 Interstate and hated it! Both were 16"  If you find something that will fit and has nice round edges please sound the horn!

My bike is up at our cottage and can't get to it - can anyone else measure rim width?   I would not like a lower profile by to much and I would only guess 205 would hit the single swing arm??  Heck I had to do a right side fender rail mod on the 2000 I/S for a 205.

fyi A 205/50 would be similar in sidewall height to the 180/55 but looks like the wheel may be a little narrow for the 205 ill keep digging. i spent a long time working in tires and still know more than i care to remember about them lol

Achilles economist comes in a 17555r17.  Yokohama makes a 180 45r17. Anyone know if these would work?
