Achilles makes a 175 55 r17.  Any darksiders know if this would work.  Yokohama makes a 180 45 r17.

OK, I have to ask being a relatively new rider.  What does "darksider" refer to?

Thanks,

Why would one want to use a car tire when the motorcycle tires are clearly engineered for bikes?

pretty much every rider who has gone darkside has reported no loss in traction/performance. So no reported disadvantage, even though every engineer and safety buff out there screams bloody murder over the idea. Now to the advantages: way cheaper and way longer mileage.

i'm not a darksider, so i cannot give first hand testimony. But i have NEVER read anything from a single darksider that regretted their choice...

i find it very interesting actually!

I ran an Michelin on my 2000 I/S and an Austone Taxi tire on my 1999 I/S, what sold me was while two up with the Michelin I told the wife to hang on!  I stood on the rear brake at 55 (no front brake and no gears) and it stopped as straight as a gun barrel and faster than ever before.   When first going to the Michelin from a motorcycle tire I barely noticed a difference.

I would love to run darkside on my bike, but my insurance policy has a clause in it that prohibits it.  If I get into an accident they probably won't pay even if wasn't the cause.  The way insurance companies are these days, I am not about to take that chance.
