About to change my timing belts & adjusters and after reading here ... seems like I can save a lot of $$$ by buying belts from automotive supply.

My question > when I look up Honda replacement parts > they show a L & R belt with different part numbers > L > 11550-MZ0-000  &  R > 11540-MZ0-000.  Usually on Honda parts explosion diagrams ... if multiple parts are the same they will all refer to same part number.  Is there any reason that they refer to L & R ( other than to get more $$$ ) ... if not then I would buy the Gates or Napa ones.

Appreciate any practical input.

Thanx ... Jim

The belts are the same, either side.

The Gates T275 is the timing belt you want x2.
they are the OEM supplied belt supplied to Honda from GATES.

AMAZON $15.57 each

Thanx John .... I was just curious if there truly is any difference between the two sides.  Honda shows both adjusters as same part number ... just seemed odd that they wouldn't just show (2) beside the single part number.

I just installed two Gates T275 belts a couple of weeks ago.
There is no difference between the left and right belts.

Guess I am getting old .... well yeah I am ( 64 ) !

My mistake in reading parts explosions > I was reading the part numbers for left & right timing "covers".

When I went back to look at all the models of Valkyries and all the years > parts explosions .... I found my mistake > they all have the same timing belt part > 14401-MN5-004 @ $55.94

So thanx for the help fellow riders ... now I feel bit better about getting the belts & adjusters ...  at my age I am used to making mistakes >>>> " yes dear"  usually resolves it !

Well I just got the two replacement Gates belts from RockAuto in U.S. to my Canadian address in Ontario for a total of $45.49 Cdn.  They even had the Honda part number sticker on them.  Priced them out at local Honda dealer > exact same belt $78.00 each > tax in for two > $176.28 ... for a whopping savings of $130.69 !!

Wouldn't have known about this without the input from people on this forum ... THANX
