I now ride a 2001 venture.I like it, but it feels real heavy.Love the power and cruise control, etc. My valk was a 98 green and black 98 tourer.I owned an 88 and 2 96 wings.I prefer the 6 cylinder feel over the other touring bikes. But I never could stretch out my legs due to the cylinder heads on the val or wings.I should have bought micopegs.Anyhow, the 646 pounds of the valkyrie seemed just right. But that bike got 27-30 mpg.I found the power was not useable in town for me.Eiding along slowly in traffic the bike felt like it wanted to jiump out and be hotrodded like a sportbike.Plus with a 6 gallon tank I still felt I needed to be near a gas station after 135 miles.I really prefer the look of the old valk to the new ones.I am thinking aobut getting another valk, buy micopegs.I will miss the gas mileage and cruise control.

Doubleminded, sounds like you have more experience than me, but I wont let that stop me! I have a 2000 Interstate, I have cruise control (CCS100 Cruise Control) paid less than 200.00 in 2012, installed it myself in my driveway, detailed instructions on this site. Use it all the time.

I usually get between 34 to 37 mpg especially using cruise and staying at or under 3000 rpm, if I twist much I don't do as good. Have managed 40 mpg a couple of times, and can usually get 200 miles or just short to reserve. GPS mileage as the bike speedo kind of fudges. The Interstate has a 6.9 gallon fuel tank and weighs 774 pounds dry. Mine weighs more with all the tools and accessories I have added.

Feels a little heavy in town, but I love riding the countryside. I have pegs mounted on the crash bars, so I can alternate my legs in several different ways, back rest, MP3 and more make a very de-stressing ride for me.

This web site is one of the best reasons to own a Valkrie! Just my thoughts, Firefighter
