well i just have to say something, fpr who ever might be out there.
almost 2 months ago i was took out by a dam dumb ass 19 year driver who chose not to look before he turned. knocked me 152 feet.  to make a long story short i am very lucky. still in recovery, will be for a while if not forever. my one owner beautiful 98 valkyrie i had to let go. to much damage for repair.  finally their insurance settled on my bike. since the wreck i have did lots of research and thinking about keeping the  old look or new look. never thought about getting anything else other than a valkyire. today by phone bought a 2014 black valkyrie. i will pick it up tomorrow in my truck and bring her home. its a 2 1/2 hour drive and i sure i will have no regrets. i can not wait. however i am not sure if i am physically able to ride just yet. 10,999 was the selling price. with 1 mile. maybe i'm in to much of a hurry .... but what can i say. i want it. hope to come back soon and let you guys know ... what you already know and what you have already told me  about the new ones.   HOWEVER i plan on putting BRIGHT fog lights on front and looking for something that will help light up the back side. i am a bit paranoid right now.  peace man...  Grin Grin

All the best to you and hope you have a full and excellent recovery!

If, for some unfortunate reason, you feel unable to handle a 2 wheel motorcycle please consider a Can Am Spyder.  I had the pleasure of riding one for a 2,060 mile tour and, for long distance work, they are absolutely brilliant - don't let some motor journalist hack tell you otherwise.

You'd be surprised at how balanced the new Valkyrie is.  The "classic" styling of the old Valkyrie make for lots of steel and other old fashioned materials.  The new one is.... well new.  It's made of modern alloys and lots of plastic so it feels like nothing.

The old one may look "better" but the new one does everything else better.

Glad your healing and going to get back on, the doubts will eventually disappear along with the first ride jitters. You couldn't have done better with the choice of bikes and since its a bit easier to ride it will help in getting back in the saddle. Good price by the way, and I would put a Corbin seat on it after experiencing my seat change. The stock seat sits you on top of the bike the Corbin puts you in the bike. Hope all the plans go well for you.  cooldude

Bring it home in a truck, OMG.  Please cover it, others may see it thinking the new Valkyrie broke down.   Evil

Heal, ride, report.  Good choice.

Dang 152' !  That's like evil Knievel stuff!  It is truly amazing you are doing so well and I have the feeling the new 1832 is going to restore your metal love and erase the negative in 2.0 miles. At three miles my face cracked from the smile.  Please post when you can.  Black,  what a cool color.

hope i did this repost  right....?
later....
what can i say.... first of all need to say thanks for all the support from you guys. people dont even know me, and your kind words have good and true meaning.
when i got to the bike shop and got close i was a bit surprised how nice looking this bike was in person. i was not let down in anyway, even the sound was somewhat beefier than what i was expecting. i got it home and it felt safe that i could ride. this bike definitely has a different feel, and you can sure feel the weight difference right off the bat. i'm a bit shaky from the hidden fear of what can happen... even rode past the accident sight (first time on a bike) seen all the markings, again immediately became grateful that i can still live life and on a brand new valkyrie. this is a nice bike and i am proud to be on it. never wore a helmet in my life until today.
and yes (i hope!!!!!!!!!!) this is what i needed to help with those negative thoughts that have become mountains.  i'll see you guys on the road, and above all peace man.
ps i wonder if its aginest the law to mount shot guns to my bike with thumb controled triggers and start shooting cars BEFORE they hit me?????

I think this is only legal in Texas, and maybe Louisiana.  Definitely not in New York.  2funny 2funny 2funny 2funny 2funny

Hi Rusty, this Stan, I have the thread on turning rear lights to running lights as well as turn signals.
I have the same fear as you about being seen, just received confirmation on my front fog/running/amber and white lights from SOCALMOTOGEAR.COM, You've probably seen the ad. I will contact you as soon as I have a good resolution on the rear lights issue and hope you get to feeling better real soon.

I broke my right leg a few years ago and had to wear a boot cast for 6-8 weeks. I missed riding so bad, my wife came home one afternoon and caught me out on the bike with me still in a cast.... she still mentions it!         uglystupid2

good day stan.... by the way is that your dog as your profile pic?. anyway right now got to much time that i can sit infront of my computer and look for stuff for my new valk. i dont know how to post the link but found a sight that has these ( boxes-?) maybe its those relays your were talking about, but they have a few different kinds that do different things to break lights, blinkers, running lights ect. still not sure about what im looking at, just found this morning. however looking into it. it comes from a sight " signal dymanics corporation - back off products,  one of these boxes makes you brake lights blink a few times before staying on when you apply brakes, and can turn blinkers into running lights, anyway..... ride safe
ps im glad i did not get this bike when i still had my arm in a sling and foot in  cast....
