Well it looks like the finance guy at the dealership who sold me my bike is going to buy a Valkyrie. I had promised the guys at the dealer that when I got the hard bags I would bring the bike and show them. So today I rode over to the dealer to show them my bike with the bags, seat and windshield and he saw it and brought everyone over to see it. In fact he even said they need to have one with the bags in the showroom. I really had a good laugh when he asked me to sit on it and the look on his face was priceless lets just say the smile said wrap it up Ill take it.  2funny Grin

I had to ride about 150 miles one way today to help a friend with a vehicle.  My cheap $100 used Saddlemen saddlebags got soaked in a pouring rain for easily two hours.  Not a drop of water in them.  Even riding on the interstate no water blew in.  I'm glad I have bags again and also glad I didn't overpay.

Glad your bags worked out ok, rain is one issue I also would have been concerned about. But I cant agree on overpaying, its subjective. One mans ceiling is another mans floor, I like the looks, the locking, the water tight seal, on the Corbin bags and on looks alone I would have done it.

To me it completes the bike, in fact I ordered my bags before I had my bike and I also don't think I would have bought the bike if the bags had not come out. The leather bags in my opinion look unfinished and don't seem to complete the look or contours of the bike. But Bscrive's actually got me thinking, his bike is wonderfully done with aftermarket leather bags, its about the best I have seen in leather.

I also have a different perspective as, I saved money, since I would have gone for the F6B at 18k, but at 11k I'm way ahead of the game even with the price of the bags.

I look at it like 23 for the wing, 18 for the F6B or the Valk at around 14 fully loaded. Now that's a deal, no fairing, better handling, better brakes lighter weight, and Corbin bags, Corbin seat, oem windshield and Goldwing motor with all leds for lights all for 14 k?

NOW thats a deal.

Not to mention there would still be aftermarket accessories to the Wing or F6B that are not added in, in contrast to the Valkyrie that is already flushed out to my specs.

So glad you like your bags, that's what makes bikes unique to each rider. Different choices for different reasons.

I consider that a good answer he gave MrT, I want to enjoy and take note of how others set up their rides even if it is not the way we would do it for ours. It is all a learning tool, especially seeing as our numbers are low. I sure wish I could get together with other 1800c riders but so far in my area I am alone. I spend enough time fighting with myself over the bags options and so far I have decided to not do anything. I want bags, however I like the looks of the bike a lot without the bags.  If there was a way to take bags on and off without a major hassle I would be very interested however I will be taking the grab rails off and inserting the fender blanks when the Corbin arrives if it ever does  tickedoff ordered May 16, they sent seat for fury, sill waiting for resend and getting gray.  Doing that will make the bag option more of a sports bike bag.   Looking at a rack that bolts to the passenger Corbin backrest as well. $300 for the rack alone yikes.  Wonderful bike, not easy to outfit.

Eventually I may get a set of Corbin bags but I'd have to see them in person.  Like ypu, there is only one other new Valkyrie owner in my area.  That's just simply based on the other Valkyrie at the dealership being gone.  So I decided to try the $100 option first before the $1800 option.  Based on other people's reviews of the Corbin bags I was hesitant to try them sight unseen.  You can fit two half helmets in one of my bags are no still have a small amount on room.  Are the Corbin big enough to do that?

I've yet to see see a picture of them with amount my common item, like amount my twelve pack of canned drinks, or something in them for reference.

You've been waiting since MAY on Corbin??!   Shocked

I was going to get the Corbib bags.  I like them, really I do, but I just realized this weekend that there is no way to protect them from tipovers.  I was looking to mount the rear tipover guards from a F6B but I just discovered that the Corbins are shaped to project into the space that the guards would normally occupy, making fitting them impossible  Sad

So I guess it will be leather bags, they hold up better under scuffs and abrasions.  I'm shopping tirelessly but it looks as if the Hondas are the best choice for shape and quality of materials, the only other ones I like are (suprisingly) the Willy and Max Revolutions.

Anyone have any personal recommendations?

You've been waiting since MAY on Corbin??!   Yes however they sent a seat a few weeks ago looked really nice but it looked strange. It sure was as it was made for a 2010 Honda Fury so I had to send it back.                                                  UPDATE the redo was sent out, it is in transit

I used Saddlemen jumbo slant bags.  They look almost the exact same as the Honda bags to me.

I think new the pair I bought is around $240 on ebay.

Also I just noticed my autocorrect is murdering my posts if I do them from my phone.  Got to start proof reading.

They are protected from tip overs, don't ask how I know Roll Eyes The bags will not scuff, also since the bottom is black they are easily touched up and it would be hard to see.

The other question is do you tip over alot?  Grin

My seat was not exactly right but it was not for a fury. Cheesy I asked for carbon fiber leather on the seat they sent regular leather. I decided to live with it rather that having another one made but now Im waiting for the backrest.

Really?  That's excellent news.  Maybe I can put them back on the shopping list.

Like you,  Roll Eyes  It seems to happen only when I ride with the group; they do things differently, park regardless of the necessity of the group and then start pulling away before all are lined up.  So I end up flustered, and...   Undecided  Embarrassed  At least they noticed that it DOES happen around *them*, otherwise nothing else happens!  Grrrrrr

Also, I live in a city now.  The people won't give you any respect and will park close, and walk by an end up scraping, you without care.  I may not have enough room to work with the hard bags installed where I park.

That kinda sucks for the group and I hate when people walk by and do that but the bags really are not a hindrance in parking or traffic. Its not like the 01 Valk with the bags that you always have to be aware just how much extra space you need. In traffic I have gone through spots that were way tighter than the 01 and with confidence.

On one of my rides I stopped like on an uneven piece of pavement and caught it right at the corner of the rear tire closest to the opposite side I was going to lean to. I underestimated the amount of force to keep the bike upright and the bracing foot was on a small amount of dirt. I was able to stop the bike from going down fast but in the current position on the seat could not get it upright again. So had to lay it down get off, get it back up,  and be a slight bit embarrassed. No damage except for one tiny mark on the crash bar on the engine. So when you are in the group and they stop where they want be mindful of my experience and the pavement that you stop on. I sure will from now on.  Grin
