I hate skunks!

Got up showered let the 2 dogs out in the back yard to do their nature stuff. Nice night time temps so the whole house fan was on all night and still on. I was getting my coffee ready at the kitchen sink when suddlenly I smell it big time.  When the smell first hit the house I was DIRECTLY in front of and close to the kithen window and got blasted with the full "force" of the smell as it was dragged into the window by the whole house fan. Now at work after riding in and still as soon as I walk by someone they can smell it, I can't escape it unless I keep walking.  going to need to bathe the dogs in vinegar when I get home.  Not sure how easy or hard it will be to get the smell out of the house.

i hit one last on vacation. 3000 miles later and 2 bike washes i could still smell it.

I hate passing the drying out skunk carcass on the side of the road. They still stink, but not as bad as getting hit full force.

I remember being in boyscouts, at camp, in tents on wooden platforms when my tent mate started jumping up and down in the tent. He claimed he was trying to scare the cat out from under the platform. I glanced down, grabbed my gear, and barely got out in time.
No one ever asked why I kept my gear packed all day again.

My big goofy Black Lab got blasted by one a few years ago, and I got lots of advice on what works best to clean up the smell.

What I found works best, was alternate baths using 'Downy' fabric softner, followed by 'Tomato' juice...  Repeat as necessary.

Took about 4 cycles, but it worked.  After the fabric softner, Brutus looked like he had an Afro

I had a problem with them this year also the key thing to do is have a grave pre-dug go for a head shot with # 2 or better shot and get them in the hole fast. Tuna is outstanding bait they can smell it for miles I think . I shot 4 this year and I've seen 5 hit on the road within a mile of my house. My daughter said she saw one the other night so I'm still on the hunt

I had some ground hogs dug up by what I believe to be Racoons....   so I would not want them to dig up a skunk, or maybe they wouldn't not sure.   I had a skunk pass away of lead poisoning on the morning of trash pick up.... and 3 plastic trash bags don't block that scent (I know and had to wait 3 hours for trash pickup).     Do you bag em before you bury em or ??

No ...Shovel'em up and throw in the hole. The dude that owns the land next to me is rich and never comes around he has over 700 acres here. I bury them on his land

This is the soap that I use daily.  I have found that it works wonders for getting skunk, dead rolled in fish, etc smells out of the dogs' coats.  Usually only one or two baths if I let it sit for a few minutes before rinsing.
