Kick-Start is a Middle School program started by Chuck Norris to use the values and philosophies of  martial arts to help off-set many of the negative influences and bring discipline and right choices to our children.  It started as an inner-city program, but has expanded to suburban areas also.  Beyond Middle School there are after school programs for high school students.  Our son TJ paricipated in Middle School, and Alex is currently in the program at Macario Garcia Middle School in FBISD.  Physical fitness and discipline is so watered down (or non-existent) in our current school systems that we see this as a very positive program.

There is going to be a fund-raiser ride Saturday October 10th.  There are three starting locations -- Houston, College Station, Austin.  The rides all culminate in Montgomery.  Registration fee is $25 per rider and $10 per passenger.  For more information:  http://www.kick-start.org/cruisetoconroe.html

Maris and I will both be riding with Alex and Sam as passengers.  We registered "Texas VRCC" as our motorcycle club affiliation.  The top three participating clubs will be recognized.  We hope to see the VRCC well represented.

Well..... I was sweating bullets getting onto I-45 from the loop............. 200 + bikes, 65 mph.... and crazy Houston drivers. That's a Rx for disaster. 2 bikes went down. No serious injuries.
