Since I had a few extra minutes today I decided to dig out a couple of used filters that I use on the bike and cut them open to see the insides. One is the Honda OEM filter that came on my bike. The other is the a Purolator Pure one pl14610. Just put it out there for all to see, since I have not seen anyone cut open these filters specific to our bikes I wanted to see. Inquiring minds want to know  Smiley
The only thing you cannot see is the bypass valve on the Pureone its actually larger than the Honda OEM. The PL14612 is essentially the same filter about 3/4 of an inch shorter.

Got a chance to cut the material off and unwind a bit to look at the construction. The Honda filter is glued about 2/8" of the way down the end of the filter. The unlike the Purolator the ends are not sealed to an end cap. This area is the top of the folds that look open in the pic. This takes about 1/4 inch off the real filter area or size of the filter in height. The filter medium is thinner on the Pure One but when running liquid through them both they both flow pretty well.
