Hi Guys,
Does anybody know if it is possible to fit new springs into the rear shocks on my tourer. They are oem chrome barrel type on there. I remember reading on here that someone did it but was it on the barrel type or spring type shocks.

Thanks for that. Cant find those springs 8 Track suggests. I will wait to see if the dampers are ok when I take them apart before deciding what way to go. Wallet suggests spring replacement if dampers are ok. But if the springs are that expensive what about the 412's. I am running a car tyre on there. Does not rub with 2 up so what should I watch for other than the 13" issue which I want to stay at. I am 6' & 220lbs. 2 up sometimes.
What are the differences between the 412's / 430 / 440's and are they worth the extra cost

Does anybody know if the car tire fitted would determine the type of shocks. Obviously it is heavier than the standard issue.

No.  The tire is not supported by shocks.

the tires are close in weight. go to tire sites, most of the weights are usually posted.

search my post about I/S suspension differences and how the fork and shocks are different.

Willow, if a tire is much more heavier than a standard tire it could need a different shock with a different rate of rebound and dampening to control the upward and downward movement.
But yes u are correct the spring rate would not have to be different.

Here they are mate. A simple search on Ebay of "DNM spring" brought them up!

The springs are great. I can't comment on the car tyre though - never used one.
