Pulled the tank on my interstate today, to be on the safe side I ordered a cover set and as long as I was doing it got the tank filter.  They were cheap enough and I wanted to make sure nothing was building up in the bottom of the tank.  Even though everything looked perfect I replaced it and will keep the other as a backup.  As a last minute thought I ordered a air filter from Denis Kirk and as I live in MN had it just in time to do the work.  Not sure how long the current one has been in it but as you can see below it was time to change.

I read a number of threads about Pringle petcock's and I'm just wondering how you make them work on the Valks, from the pictures I've seen they only have a tiny shutoff lever and I would think it be a pain to have to reach in under the side hanger cover to turn it on and off.  Am I mistaken, do the Pringles that fit the Valk use the same shutoff lever as the standard Petcocks?

Yes the Pingel's have the small, short selector arm. It's not too hard to reach underneath and you do get used to it. That said, many have installed an electric solenoid valve available from Dan-Marc similar to this one. http://www.dan-marc.com/79-afc11112.html With the solenoid cutting off the fuel with the ignition key you only have to reach underneath the tank when you want to.

When I desmogged my rides, I replaced the OEM petcock and installed a Dan Marc fuel shutoff valve.  I just prefer having the fuel selector at the side if the tank. As BonS points out, the Dan Marc will not allow fuel to flow unless it's selinoid is open with the key on.

There is nothing wrong with the OEM petcock, don't turn it off and on every five minutes it will do its job.
