Hi guys, I got a weird problem with the rear brake. I just got the bike the other day, I change all the oils and installed new springs in the front, what a difference. The problem is, when cumming to a stop normal braking it's all good, but when I brake hard it sounds like something knocking in the back. I'm going to take the back wheel and caliper off tomorrow. Anybody have this problem or what to check. Thanks  It's a 1998 with 44000 klm

Raise the bike and grab the rear wheel at the bottom. Shake left to right while looking at the hub. If there's any movement, replace the wheel bearings.

Sounds like you might have lost a spring clip.  It goes on the caliper plate and the ends of the pads fit inside that spring

So, I took the back wheel off this morning and had a lot of trouble, the spindle was stuck in the differential from rust. I finally got it off and clean all the parts they are all good. The only thing that was bad was one of the bearings had a lot of grind and slop thank god I had a spare from my other Valk. Got it all back together and now I'm to tired to try it, maybe tomorrow. Thanks for your help guys.

Well, I went for a ride yesterday and the bike rides smooth and no more grinding or brake clunk. The bearing was so bad,  when I would step on the brake I guess the wheel would move causing it to clunk.  Grin
