Hello All
i am considering panniers. The Tsukayu seem good and fair value compared to used stock Honda panniers.

What is your view ? Are there any other panniers out there worth considering ?

thanks

Hi Trev.

I was lucky and got a pair of Givi side boxes, plus the Valk side racks a few years back for about €400. When I checked online later, the side boxes were coming in @ €280 each!!, and the Givi racks were no longer available.
Easy on and easy off, mono key system.
Here's a pic :-

Whereabouts in Ireland are you?

As you are probably aware, although the choice of panniers is wider across The Pond, shipping and the inevitable Import Duty and extra VAT will add to the bill. It appears lately that very few packages from the U.S. get past our ever vigilant postal/customs guys.

If I was looking now, I would try to keep my search 'local' (within the EU), the only downside is that for some reason stuff coming out of Germany always appear to be expensive, even for used items. The prices within Holland/Belgium seem reasonable, but with large items like side boxes postage could be a killer. BUT, you won't get hit with Import Duty and VAT.

The UK can sometimes unearth some gems (I haven't searched for anything recently, just going on past experiences), but you then have the Sterling/Euro exchange, and for some reason the postage charges between the UK and here are always extortionate.

I haven't been out to Laragh on a sunday since I moved from Bray to Gorey in 2009!!
I must look into taking a run that way one weekend.

Good luck with your search, and let us know how you get on.

Would shipping and taxes be higher than finding a set somewhere that you could ferry to, install, and ride them back yourself? Might be an option cooldude

Hi Chippy
Thanks for the reply.
the document will say unfinished (no paint) parts nominal value $100, so that will hopefully minimise the duties/vat.

You're welcome.  My pics are of my Valk before I changed the tins on it.  Now of course, it's black and chrome.   Wink
