Anybody put a small tank bag or map holder on top of their tank bib? Have a tank bib, but would occasionally need a map holder. Any ideals?  Maybe a handlebar mounted map holder?  Thanks

Roadgear sells a tank bag (magnetic) but you'll have to remove the bib. Top of tank bag has a clear top pocket for maps.

Firefighter:
I've got a River Roads magnetic map bag that is about 10" by 10" and it will stick to the tank as the magnets are wider than the bib.

Check out the JP Cycle website, they've also got one called Iron Rider which is quite wide.

I had an arm sleeve map pouch given to me. Haven't used yet.

I don't know how you guys read a map while you are riding. I would need to put on reading glasses to begin with and even if I could see it without them it's too distracting for me. Especially when you really need it in heavy traffic in a big city. I've made cheat sheets on a white paper with stuff like: north on 36, left on Main Street , etc. and taped them to the tank. Sorry didn't mean to hijack.  Undecided

I think I still have a tank bag from the 70s had a nice clear cover for maps on top.  Trouble with the valk is the raised gas cap is in the way (but can probably still work).  My tank bib has a nice ladies clutch purse sewn in and the fold down flap has a clear plastic cover on the inside.  Reach down, lift the cover and look at my directions.  Only problem is, only a 3 X 5 card will fit in it.  So I don't use maps, I put large print turn by turn directions prepared before departure (like Rob).  If I get lost, I have to get off and consult a map in the saddlebags.

Here's a magnetic map case, with no bag. (Maybe the one referred to above)

I've also seen guys use a grease pencil with turn by turns on the inside of the shield, or turn by turns on paper.... blue painter's taped to the inside of the shield.

I've heard about these new-fangled GPS thingies, but some old dogs can't do new tricks.

Thanks for all the input! I have already looked up some of the suggustions and can probably go forward from there. Never thought of the map holder bending over the tank bib.

Meathead, I can't see either and I wouldn't use it in heavy traffic, just to check where a road ends up out in the middle of nowhere. I have sunglasses from Sams that double as readers. I also have a gps, but it is kind of useless as a actual map, and doesn't seem to have the roads a map does. GPS works good if you give it a destination or on the super slab. Anyway Thanks everone,  Firefighter
