Thought I'd take a couple pics after getting it all back together. Rebuilt the forks, calipers, new front wheel bearings, brake pads, new bearing and races in the steering neck. Got the "new" front fender off Ebay, close match so will probably leave it alone. The back fender off the same bike was really messed up so didn't buy it. The bike is running when I took the profile shots, really rough....especially the left side. Runs much hotter than the right side. I'll get some more hitest duck butter and run it through then let it sit. Don't really want to pull the carbs again but will if needed, it has been sitting for a while. I'll be measuring for the brake lines and the clutch line next, then off to J&P Cycles. My funnel for filling the forks. Cut the top off an old fuel filter and slipped a small hose over the end. Velcroed it in place while filling, works great. Drilled and tapped fork caps, 5/16" with a teflon washer under the SS button heads. Coming together.....slowly. Lots of work left for the wiring, quite a mess.

Looking good John, she's really coming together. You scored on the fender, no paint needed

What are you going to use for headlamp & turn signals? Are you going to keep the stock mufflers? Looking real good so far John!

What are you going to use for headlamp & turn signals? Are you going to keep the stock mufflers? Looking real good so far John! I was planning on using the stock headlight setup except with an Adjure lamp. Already made the switch just not mounted since the wires are still a mess. Turn signals....school is still out on that, front and rear. The stock mufflers are long gone, a rusted mess. The headers are aftermarket and the mufflers are new take-offs from a Harley($50). I need to have an extension made up with a couple bends in it to move them out and back a little, about 7" long. They hit the frame the way they're mounted now. Eddie, I still have your old tank, what do you want me to do with it? I can't use it and it cost less for the current one off Ebay than to have the old beat up one fixed and painted. If you want, I can put it on Ebay and see if someone wants to mess with it. Just set it up for a $60-70 Buy Now plus shipping just to get rid of it. I have it all packed at the moment, but if it sold I'd just send you the cash.

Cool! After looking closer at the pic I see that the mufflers are not stock. I was thinking how nice a VTX headlamp looks on a Valk & wondered what direction you were going. As far as the tank, I definitely don't need it so get what you can & we can split it. I appreciate it! Can't wait to see the finished project, I'm sure it will be another badass Schmidt project!

OK, I'll pull it out and take a couple pics and list it. I'll send you the item # so you can keep tabs on it. May not bring anything but one never knows.

Are you going to charge extra for the acorn in the tank... I don't think it's an acorn. I filled it with water after I got it home and whatever it was still rolled around in there, didn't float. Probably a nut or bolt dropped in there. I won't charge extra for that, but the rolling noise does remind me of something we did as kids. One of the a/c ducts in our HS was nearly a block long and had a slight downhill run.....which passed right over the principal's office. We found a vent we could remove uphill from his office, sneaked a practice shot-put out of the storage cabinet and turned it loose....then high-tailed it out of there. It slowly picked up speed, seemed to rumble on and on and on forever until it hit the end of the run and crashed through the vent and into the swimming pool. Have no idea why the principal was so PO'd, nobody got hurt. He even took it down to the police station to see if it could be fingerprinted. Not a chance, my GF used her skirt to wipe it clean first. I had a lot of fun in HS.

Well, if it is a nut or bolt you could add "additional hardware included" in your ad. Might be good for an additional $5.00 or so.
