Holy smokes!

What a difference it makes to replace the intake runner O-rings and make sure all the carb boots are done up nice and tight.

I found 4 cylinders where the O-rings had started to let fuel leak past, and at least two carb boots where the top rings were loose.

She runs much harder now will smoother power delivery, better idle, and fantastic acceleration. I did the vacuum lines a while ago too. Next up is a carb sync which should ensure she's running at the peak of her powers.

Man I love this bike!

put a dab of clear silicone on the carb boot screws/nuts end, they will come loose again if not done.

A carburetor synchronization will not have any affect upon the power output of the engine.

No, but the above will. 15-20%? Maybe not, but those butt dinos are hard to calibrate.

Yeah 20% is over the top, but she is charging much harder now than she ever has. The difference is not subtle!

Yep, engines don't like vacuum leaks, do they.  Eliminating them makes a difference.  But, these leaks can sneak up on you as they keep adding up slowly.
Honda gives a pretty wide spec [ 1.6 in/hg] on the sync, and this system is pretty bullet proof, but, a sync may help help the idle and transition a bit smoother.

Patrick - you are spot on. I did a digital sync on The Valkyrie yesterday. The idle is much smoother and I had to wind back the idle speed knob to counter an increase in idle speed as the carbs got closer to a perfect sync.

After taking it out for I ride, I can fully support your observations. She idles much smoother and the transition from idle to putting the power down is also much smoother. There was a lag or slight hesitation there which only became apparent in its absence following the sync.

This bike has never run better!
