Hello all, I had to post this just in case anyone was ever feeling like they were missing out on something. I bought my black standard Valkyrie 18 years ago in 1997. It had 3 miles on it and was the first bike that I ever purchased. It was $11,900.00 well spent. Over the years I have added honda touring bags, a honda windshield, corbin seats, and every piece of chrome known to man for this wonderful machine. As my wife and I have been raising our three boys that are now teenagers I have not had as much time to ride as I would like. Now they are getting older and my time is starting to free up again. My buddies on the job ride Harleys and have been baiting me to buy one. Over the past weekend I went to the HD open house in York, Pa to tour the plant and ride the bikes. My thought was to ride the biggest and best bike on the lot so I test rode the 2016 Ultra Limited. After a 20 minute ride on this "$28,000.00 flagship" bike I could not wait to get back to my 18 year old Valkyrie. The power, smoothness and handleing that our bikes have are light-years ahead of its time. Yes, I have a renewed appreciation for our bikes and almost feel bad that I ever doubted her. I have fallen back in love with the Honda Valkyrie and why........because I rode a HD!!!

Hi Daryl, Couldn't agree with you more. I've been riding the Valk since 2003. Never sold it, but did buy a 2013 HD Road Glide Ultra. Never could get comfortable with the wind buffeting, even after three windshields. Traded for a new 2014 Ultra Classic. Put 4000 miles on it, then sold it too. Still have my '98 Tourer but have always wanted the Interstate, so I found a Sweet 2000 model in blue & Silver. Only 15000 miles. I'll not likely ever sell the Tourer, but that Interstate is the best road bike I've ever rolled on. Harley makes some fine machines, but they just don't compare for comfort, longevity, style, character, individuality............................ Yea, I know. I'm preaching to the choir. Ride safe brothers !

yea, 1930's technology just can't compete with a modern Honda Valkyrie, esp when a sound and a fancy paint job is all there is.

Funny but I rode my '97 Tourer to the York PA openhouse with a bunch of Harley guys back in '99 and came away with the very same feeling. Since then, I lost the Tourer in a divorce, bought a few different Harleys once I settled myself and got some $$$ together, crashed one of them, sold the other two and bought a '99 Tourer with 1500 original miles about two years ago . . . . . and I, too, am once again in love with my Valk. Harleys are wonderful machines but the Valk is superior in my humble opinion . Enjoy your ride, my friends, whatever it may be and be safe!

Thanks for sharing! I've never doubted my "girl" when it came to purchasing a new HD. However, I was tempted with the new Indians. I rode two different Indians and not impressed enough to let the Valk go. The Valk may not have all the new technology, but it's a better performer IMO.

Don't forget about the clothes! Don't forget about the clothes! That's funny. As I'm sitting here wearing a H-D t-shirt from Skagway Alaska. Haven't owned a Harley since 1969...

Skagway has a HD dealership ? Well, NO! But it does have a shop where you can purchase t-shirts, caps, mugs, etc. Not a motorcycle to be found. I just had to get a biker shirt that had Skagway on it...

I have few HD T's, from areas I was when I used to travel for my job. There are some nice artwork ones out there which I usually buy. Or a rare one like the San Diego Republican national convention when SD HD was still in SD, they still use the same name but are north of SD now before Miramar. or the Hawaii dealership which actually had one of the HD roadrace early effort bikes, pretty cool bike, just wasn't competitive and HD dropped out of racing after that effort. And mine are American made.
