Couldn't get the dang thing to work right.  Wouldn't lock down and stop the grip from turning no matter how I adjusted it.  Works fine on Deerslayer with Kuryakyn Iso-grips, and on the Magna.  Couldn't figure it out.  Called BA TS.  Brian said not so much a problem with the earliest Valks, but very common in later years.  The flange end of the OEM grip is not secured well to the body of the grip.  Even when it looks like it is and you can't see the looseness.  But it is loose.  This part of the grip is where the Brakeaway throttle lock secures to the grip to control the rotation of the throttle. The cure is to drill appropriate holes (you can feel it when the drill hits the handlebar) to install small diameter, 1/4" length button head screws around the perimeter of the inner chrome sleeve where the flange is to anchor it to the body. Not necessary to tap the holes; the screws will self-tap sufficiently.  Then use one of the thinner rubber shims inside the collar to grip against the screw heads and sleeve. VOILA!  Problem solved.

Drill size is 1/16", Buttonhead srews are 256 X 1/4".

I fought that same thing with my OEM Grips. I almost returned the Brakeaway. I finally figured out it was the chrome piece sliding. I posted this info on my Review of the Brakeaway thread but that is no help to you now.

I ended up simply epoxying the chrome piece. It has held up for a couple of years now.

Sorry the install was more involved, but thanks for sharing.  I certainly think the BrakeAway is a great device.
