Hey Larue, the early bag lids aren't made to take the different cables to hang them off to the side. Give me a call and I'll talk to you about it. I had to change the lids on mine but I'll explain. You should still have my number.

On my old VT1100 ACE Tourer I put the interstate "hinge" on my bags when I installed a trunk.  Direct fit with no modifications.
I would imagine it to be the same for the Valk Tourer as it is the same bag.
I purchased the Hinge parts for the forward end of the bag and the second cable and attaching parts.  Worked out fine.

I did a post on this with schematics and part numbers a while back.  Just swap hinges for a forward clamp and cable ties (you have to buy each and every nut, bolt, cable, spacer, yada).  Do a search.

The only thing is, I think the early tourer lids did not have the plastic screw bosses molded in to hold the two side-facing rubber-tipped standoffs, to hold the lids off the side of the bags when hanging on the cables.  This is not really a problem as long as you are careful and gentle with the lids when hanging them over the sides.  And if you have the OE or aftermarket bag rails, they are entirely unnecessary, since the lids then hang over and lay against the top rail, not the bag paint.

Better to be judged by 12, then carried by 6.

I did. I just changed out the top and bottom hinge. Love it. I left the cables off so I can take the lid off and set it aside. Makes it nice if I have stuff attached to the lid racks.
