I think he said that he and his friend were riding their Matchless motorcycles when the Blue Ridge Parkway first opened.  If you haven't read any of his stories on the main board, take the time as they are entertaining.

1948.....the '49 grill looked almost the same except it was wider. They added more "teeth" on the ends. I'd love to find an old fast back model, then do a resto-mod on it.  My bed would probably be moved to the garage if I did.  Grin

I have several books on the BRP. My favorite is the book that explains how the BRP came to be in the first place with numerous pictures of what they went through getting it done at all.
