September's monthly dinner "meeting" will be Thursday 10 September 2009 at The Ballard Street Cafe & Grill in historic downtown Wylie.  I called.  They don't have a website.  But they do have breakfast all day, chicken fried steak, and homemade pies and cobblers - something for just about everyone I know who rides a Valkyrie!

Ballard Street Cafe & Grill
(972) 442-0453
112 N Ballard Ave, Wylie, TX 75098

http://www.mapquest.com/maps?city=Wylie&state=TX&address=112+N+Ballard&zipcode=75098

They are expecting 20-25 of us under the group name DFW VRCC.  Please come out and help us break 30.  We have lots of things to discuss - even some things that have to stay off-board for a while longer!

And, as a follow-up to the suggestion made by your president at August's dinner meeting that we have October's dinner meeting in Ft Worth, does anyone have any suggestions for a location?  Sundance Square?  Stockyards?

We would love to have you here, Dag, but while parts of that route look exciting, there aren't too many twisties on the way!

And yes, I got so distracted by the homemade pies and cobblers that I forgot to include the time.

Going to miss this one. Trey's first baseball game is tomorrow night. Not as good an excuse as Dag's, but I wouldn't miss this one for anything.

Welcome TXWolfman!

Sorry you can't make it tonight, but you might not have to wait 'til the October dinner meeting to catch up with us.  Odds are really good the monthly ride on Sunday 20 September will be north and west.  Stay tuned...

It's been too many years since I've been to a local Valk event (I think it was the VSG monthly meeting the last time I made it, for you old timers, that'll tell ya' how long it's been)... I'm gonna try to make it tonight...

Caveat - If I make it I'll hafta have my 6 year old daughter with me, assuming that's okay, if not please speak quick... Momma's working late tonight, so if I go hafta bring her...

Well the stars must be aligned just right, as I myself am going to come to the meeting.  It’s been so long for me I can’t remember which President was in office.  I think Serk was even there too.  Maybe even Tiger.  See ya all there.

Well, I'm going to have to miss this one.  It's pouring rain here in Lavon and I'm not getting out in it.  I'll watch for the next get together.  If you all are coming this way, bring an umbrella.

we talked bad about people who weren't there...  Tongue

mostly, we reviewed the fun we've had recently: the Ghost Ride to Jefferson, Godfire's ride up to Minnesota, the Wrench Party.

then we covered upcoming events: Ride For Kids in October, volunteer opportunities at RFK, social opportunities at RFK, how to juggle our usual wrench party date with the RFK events for October, the upcoming ride route for September (North and West!), and possible eastbound rides for future months to capitalize on a kind offer from Al Lamb's to drag out a BBQ pit and feed us if we were in the vicinity of the dealership.

then we talked bad about the people who weren't there some more, and heaped lavish praise on the ones brave enough to ride out in that mess.  most of us were in cages, myself included.  i was thinking the rain wasn't so bad for most of the drive, until the car in front of me hit a low spot in the road and threw up a shower that rocked the car and would've laid the Valk right down.  from that point on, i stopped grumbling about how we should've been riding.   uglystupid2

Kali and I had a great time, good to meet some new faces, and good to see some old faces that I haven't seen in far too long!

She was SO proud that she was one of the few "brave" ones that rode, and was proudly showing off her new do-rag to mommy, and anyone else that would hold still long enough for her to model it for 'em... Smiley

We had a good time, and will try to make it to more VRCC events in the future whenever they're within her allowed riding distance (So far that's about 30 miles maximum, per mommy, but we're slowly stretching it out further and further...)

Well, we certainly needed the rain, but it seemed to put a damper on attendance.   2funny

Had camera.  Took no pictures.   tickedoff   So, you'll have to imagine me at one end of the table, and to my left were Sly, godfire, Lemondrop, Ghillie, and The Jet.  Mugmarine was at the head of the table, and to his left were MotoRose, Thalas'shaya, Kali, Serk, and VolvoBob.  12 on a rainy schoolnight was pretty darn good!  3 Valkyries carrying 4 people was something else.  Not sure what...  Hardcore?  Crazy?  Thanks to all who made it.  Hopefully, we'll get to see those who missed it soon!

It was great to finally meet Serk, and his daughter, Kali, who didn't care about the lightning, thunder, or rain - she wanted to RIDE!  Thank you Kali for doing a great job drawing numbers for the door-prizes!   angel

Talk about RIDE, The Jet rode all the way from Aurora!  That's gotta be 70-75 miles one way.  Good to see you and looking forward to seeing you and Mrs The Jet again soon on the west side.  (For those who have never heard of Aurora, TX, do a search and see what comes up!)

We did talk about the people who weren't there, but mostly about all the upcoming opportunities to get together to ride, eat, commune, give, and have fun.

Please stay tuned to the TX Board and Calendar.  It's going to be a busy Autumn.
