Suburban Chicago Dumbutt

A Northbrook man arrested at his own wedding reception on charges he slugged his brother-in-law and illegally had a cache of weapons in his car formally pleaded not guilty Wednesday to a half-dozen felony charges stemming from the incident.

Sean T. Kelly, 26, asked for a jury trial on six counts of unlawful possession of a firearm without a firearm owners identification card and a misdemeanor charge of domestic battery filed after his July 26 arrest outside a Huntley home hosting the reception.

The weapons charges are Class 3 felonies punishable by a maximum two to five years in prison.

Huntley police arrested Kelly after responding to reports of a brawl in the 11200 block of Nicollete Lane. Police said officers arrived to find several reception guests bloodied and bruised.

Among them, authorities said, was Kelly's 30-year-old brother-in-law - and roommate - who charges allege was punched by the groom during the fracas.

After Kelly was arrested, police said, he asked officers if he could give his brother some items locked in his vehicle's trunk. Those items, police said, turned out to be three rifles, three handguns and 39 rounds of ammunition he could not legally possess because the state had revoked his Firearm Owners Identification Card.

Kelly, who is free after posting $2,500 bond, is scheduled to return to court Oct. 21 for a pretrial status hearing.

IMHO. The people who allowed their state officials to require them to have a firearm owners identification card, could also be called STUPID.

I would say he qualifies for a Darwin Award honorable mention. Honorable mention because he is still alive and his removal as a donor to the gene pool is only temporary.
