Hey Y'all...I accidently broke the tab off my right side cover & is there any way to fix it??? I don't think any kind of glue will work. Pretty piss poor design for such a part that has to be removed from time to time. Are there any kind of hinges that can be expoxy'ed on or hinges that can be JB Welded? Anyone have any good ideas without buying new ones. Mine are chromed. I went to Dillon Brothers on line & they cost $180.00 each but no chrome ones. DANG!!! Ya know??? I would appreciate any feed back. Thanks. Ride safe & just let the tail gaters go by...pull over to let them go. IBA 1990 tommy t......Hey Becky!!! LOL

I did the same exact thing the other day.... and following someone's advise on this board, used Velcro to attach the front of it and never looked back. There have been some exotic fixes shown in the Tech Board, but the Velcro was so easy and works for me. YMMV, Hay  Jimmyt |

A popular fix if you break the side cover tab: http://www.vermin-club.org/mods/side_cover_tab_repair.htmI am totally paranoid about the side covers. I take them off and put them back on exactly like it says in the owners manual under the seat. If it has been a few months since I had it off, I read it again before I do it. They probably won't break if you don't twist them the wrong way... The plastic on the Valkyrie is ABS, the stuff they make DWV plumbing out of. I used Velcro.........
Had to fill a little distance so I added double sided tape to the velcro, applied it to the frame rail, the other piece went on the side cover,
Put the stem in the grommet and pressed the front of the side cover in toward the frame,
Velcro took it from there,
Secret is to clean the side cover and the frame real good with some rubbing alcohol. When you attach the cover, leave it alone for 3 or 4 days.............

Did the staple mod, first used epoxy, to hold staple in, but it didn't hold.
Used JB Weld, works great. No problems.

I once had to replace a side cover on my CB750 mid-trip. (the grommet had dry rotted and so at speeds over 90mph the wind was enough to just pop the side cover off and away it went---I guess. I got to a gas station and it was gone).
I had to resort to a plastic plate and a few wire ties to finish out the trip.
It kept most of the rain out.

2 band-aids held mine on for the 1300 mile trip home. Then I did the staple method. Heated it up good and then melted in alot of the plastic over it. I think i also put JB weld on top of it also. Still holding after 20,000 miles.
