Angry  Dang, I got one more ride on her before winter yesterday. Going to cover her up and dream about Christmas in Phoenix and getting to ride again. Haven't enjoyed a bike this much since my 1973 Kawasaki 900 Z-1 wheeled out of the Dealer. These bikes really do it all!!! very, very well and sound great. Dreaming in Colorado!

Yep,
I put my bike to sleep for the winter on Sunday.  I decided to put it at my cousin's place, so that I can do some work on it over the winter.

Projects for this winter:
Get seat done by Russell Daylong
Install a Rostra cruise control
Put on an extra LED brake light hooked up to a flasher

Took the queen out to dinner tonight leaving a good hour before sundown, nice country ride still in my T-shirt she with the "summer" Joe Rocket jacket.  Nice but the bike was painted with bugs needing instant Bike clean up upon arriving home.  50 easy miles all told.

Riding season starts now as far as I am concerned. We ride summer but it is brutal.   I guess there is good and bad as I would love to see the fall colors!

I'm still riding.  Saturday's high is scheduled to be all of 50° but it looks like I'll be doing a 600 mile round-trip with a night's layover (I hope).  I haven't put the heated grips on yet so I'm a bit nervous, as I get cold easy, but there you go.  I'll just have to keep the heated vest on high I guess.

I hate winter.  You can't ride in snow.

I'm doing OK so far with the new Valk; with this weekend's trip I'll have put on 5000 miles in 3 & 1/2 months, regardless of the season ending and the weather turning decidedly cold.  Have I mentioned my favorite number on the Valk's spec sheet, 1100?  As in 1100-watt alternator for heated goodies and extra farkles?

I love this bike! Smiley

Wherever you live, I wish I was there right now.  Riding season here is drawing to an end and all that does is make me completely miserable, waiting for next year to begin again.

Fall up here had some of the brightest colors I can ever remember.  The oranges, yellows, reds and ochres were so intense in some places that they seemed almost blinding, and they lasted a long time, too.  There are still patches of blinding color on some trees that refuse to give their last breath to the incoming winter season.  A great year for the 'leafers'.

Ya Florida, and some other southwestern states, the riding season goes on,as long as you skip the rainey days....A good friend of mine who lives in Arizona has told me before, when it gets toooo hot there thats when he leaves and rides central and northern states , and doesnt go home till like September when he can get back across the mountains without freezing. Then ride around his home still in the 70s or so most of the time...Nice... since all of my family (who I ride with) live around here In northern Ill. and I like the change of seasons, and Im not the richesed guy in the world, I will tough it out for the winter.... If I had the money I would live here in the summer, then put the bike in a toy hauler and head to Arizona, rent a site at a nice campground for their winter and stay there till the spring thaw.....HA HA HA wouldnt that be the life, guess we all can dream RIGHT !!!!!!!!!!

I moved back to Ill. after a 11 year hitch In Colorado, in 1985. Loved the state and the mountains, but got divorced and had a good job opp. so back I came... Now after 30 years and another divorce, here I am retired, own my own (small House in northern Ill) and a 2014 Valkyrie, now everyday is Saturday, and the guys I ride with and new friends I have made enjoy the summers and hibornate in the winter, to plan the next summers trips... RIDE ON LIFE IS GOOD

I am alo in No. Illinois and try to ride till I can't bear the cold....but in a weird way makes me so much more appreciate the rides in the other three seasons more and maximize these last opportunities!
Enjoy your ride- the Valk is special!

No end in Hawaii either.  87 in the summer, 82 in the winter.  After awhile you no longer realize there's been a change in seasons.
