Engine hanger covers - plated incorrectly?
«

I just purchased a set of used chrome engine hanger covers....not the Hondaline ones, but the ones (from Poland, maybe?) with the cutout of the Honda wing on the ignition side. Both pieces look like the nice plating is on the inside. The outside doesn't reflect anywhere near a mirror finish. Anyone else have these, and do you have the same problem?

Don't have a set, but if you think it's worth it you can have them chrome plated again. Items I've had plated came out very well.

Yea, I've seen those for sale on Ebay. The cover that goes over the ignition switch has only 2 mounting holes, unlike others, which have 3. I've had the ones from Carolina Bike & Trike for about 3 years and am very pleased with them.
Perhap the seller can offer some solutions for you.

If they don't have a protective film over them, then maybe you can paint them to match your colors.
I've seen the 2 different styles from Carolina, both the half and full sets but I wonder if the full length set would restrict air flow to cool the engine and tranny too. They seem to be of a higher quality as far as workmanship.

I read about the protective film and thought "..man, could I really be that dumb?" Well, the answer is "yes", because I hadn't thought of it, but alas, there is no film. I really don't have a problem with the quality of them. They are thicker than the Hondaline ones, and the edges (and one side) are smoothed and chromed nicely. I'm aware of the CBT covers as well. After thinking about it, I seem to remember the guy from Poland answering one of my WTB posts before, but can't remember his name.
