Thought I was doing OK, but having some complications so back to the surgeon tomorrow morning.  This is really starting to suck. May have ended up with an infection, got up this morning at 3 am in a lot of pain and swelling.  Don't get old, it SUCKS.

We all hate that you are hurting Grumpy.  Cry    Hopefully there will be an easy short fix to this latest set back.   And we don't have an option on the getting old bit tickedoff  However I never had the opportunity to live what I feel must have the best times ever, I just have to pull out American Graffiti every so often.   Roll Eyes

Bill, I don't like the alternative to not getting old, I came much to close to that in 2012.  Wink  I hope the new problem can be cleared up quickly, bad enough you had to go through that whole mess to begin with.

And Jerry, some parts of American Graffiti copied me and my buddies from back in '53 & '54. Just remember; wear gloves. No prints!  I recall one Halloween was particularly amusing. Two of my buds and I are walking down the street about 1:00am, I had about ten street signs over my shoulder and our intentions were to make a few switches with signs on the other side of town. Suddenly a squad car idles up next to us and this newbie jumps out with his gun drawn, while the older cop sits in the car to watch. Newbie asks for some ID, I said OK and held out the signs for him to hold while I reach for my wallet. He holsters his gun and takes the signs and we take off.....while he's standing there holding the signs. The older cop I can still hear roaring with laughter. I had a blast in high school.  angel

We pulled some of the same crap, in the late 50's our little one horse town had 3 cops and 1 car. One deputy stopped at the same cafe every night at 9 pm to eat. One of the clowns I hung out with, chained the rear axle to a tree next to the squad car and waited for him to come out. When he got in the car, my bud laid a patch right past the car with his lights out and turned on the US 61. The cop took off after him and snatched the rear out of the car. Of course I was not so bad, my favorite stunt was to get a stop sign from the city yard. Then install it in the middle of a one lane bridge out side of town that was several hundred feet long. Then sit and watch the idiots lock up the brakes in the middle of the bridge and then realize what was going on. All the crap we pulled and I only got arrested once for disturbing the peace.  If they knew half the stunts we pulled, we probably would still be in jail.

Hey Bill

Sorry to hear of the present problem.

I hope it's just a quick shot of antibiotics for the infection;  and you're back to 100%.

I am back, what a day.  Had some tubes put in plus a drain and flushed with a saline solution for about 1 1/2 hrs. Then a bunch of injections, antibiotics and a steroid.  Had an infection in the neck muscle and lymph nodes. Just had to get all the crap out I guess. I had a knot the size of a golf ball when I went in this morning. It is gone, just a bunch of meds to take for a while. Still sore, but I can move my head again, that is a plus.  Do not know the cause or care as long as it is fixed.

Probably not safe for work, this is an after pic. the one before was bad. this was only the one on my neck, have 3 others. One is larger on the back of my shoulder.

I have my before and after pics too.  Yummy.   crazy2

What I found curious was the stitching... which looked more like my sewing than professional stitching; a lazy, loose whip-stitch.  I asked about it and they told me that unlike other surgery, they often take such big chunks of you out, that to stitch it tight is a mistake which gives a bad postoperative result.  They went clear to the bone on my forearm and you could have laid a golf ball in there.  I don't care about the scarring.  Most people are too polite to ask, but if they do I tell them they are dueling scars.

Now if I was into tattoos, I've thought the perfect match for my head and neck scars would be a nice pair of hex bolts on my neck, for the Frankenstein look.  LOL

Postoperative infection is always a risk with skin surgery and burns.  I'd be using antibiotic ointments instead of just lotions.

I had the bolt idea also.  They have me on antibiotic ointment also, and today got several injections in the wound area plus oral antibiotics.  I have one in my back that is like your arm, looks like they used a melon baller, nice half circle about 3/4 in deep. Took a chunk out of my elbow also.
Be real glad when all this crap is healed.  I was doing good, then over night had a golf ball appear on my neck. they used fairly regular stitching on my neck, actually took about a 3/4 in wide strip where the scar is. Surgeon joked, good part about old folks, the skin is baggy enough to stretch back over the cut.  He said on a young person they would have to rob skin from some where else to cover it.

May as well get cosmetic tucking done at the same time. Ask for a BOGO-free.

Ouch Bill that is all I Can say and yes it is deeper and larger than I imagined.
