I was running errands on the bike and caught a light at a major intersection. I was in the right hand lane, but there is one more to the right that has to merge to the left shortly after crossing the highway. I'm in the first spot, and I see Einstein pull out of the line three cars back and pull up next to me in the lane that has to merge. I didn't react, but he is sitting there inching forward and gunning his engine, making sure everyone could hear his stupid little buzz bomb with the echo can on the tail pipe. If noise was power, he would really show me up but it wasn't to be. Just as the yellow came on for the cross traffic, I leaned forward real sharply and gunned the bike, although I never moved. Without looking he hit the gas, squeaked his tires a couple times and it died in the middle of the intersection. Apparently Einstein never learned how to really drive a stick....he just went chirp, chirp, then kachug, bucked twice and quit. Everyone in three lanes of traffic were hooting and honking at him, I just cruised on by and paid no attention to him, figured he was getting enough from everyone else. He caught up to me about a half mile down road when I hit another light, rolled down his window and asked if I really thought I could take him. "Well....yes son, I do." "Hey old man, how do you figure, all I see are three cylinders against my six." "Well son, you're right, sure can't slip that one past you, but you see....I have three more on this other side just like them." Then I suggested he learn a bit more about his "enemy" before waging battle with them. He rolled up his window and left. All the while, people in cars next to us were laughing at him, making comments he couldn't help but hear.

Now for the fun part....he didn't see it but on my left was a local cop in an unmarked car, who was just shaking his head and grinning over the whole thing. When Einstein drove away the second time, he started lane hopping at more than 10mph over the limit. The unmarked car added another one to his quota about a mile farther down the road....and he smiled and waved at me as I just cruised past. He had seen everything from the first fiasco on. For me, just another relaxing day giving the Phat Lady some badly needed exercise running errands and saving a little gas while doing it.

Hilarious!  I wish that I'd been there and seen that stupid idiot.  Wonder if he'll pull the same sh** if he runs up against a Triumph Rocket III.  "you only have three against my six"   Grin Grin

EXCELLENT story John, thanks for sharing.

Years ago, I had a numbnutz come up next to me reving away, giving me his best evil looks and looking for a race.  I have been known to do rolling run ons with other bikes (mostly friends) in a safe manner in seperate lanes, but I will not drag race, and sure not in town.  Well there was a cop in plain view up ahead, but numbnutz was in his own little world.  So as the cross light goes yellow I could not help myself and rolled on hard and made noise, but when we got the green I just rolled away easy, while numbnutz gave it all he had.  I was laughing onto tears as I passed the guy getting pulled over a mile up the road.    A man should know his limitations.   Cool

Think I'll run in to DC tomorrow morning for the tea party.  I hate that town as I am there every day for work, but this is a good cause.

John, you're just mean....I love it  Grin

Last night was our bike night. I had my girl parked out front and it was getting late. A dude came up and asked..."is that yer bike?" Yes, I said...he asked, "what the hell is it?". I answered, it's a Valkyrie, a Honda Valkyrie." He asked, ..."is that a four cylinder?". I answered, no, it's a six cylinder....he stood there and blinked a few times and said...."Harley don't do that." .....to which I answered.....you're right, they don't.  uglystupid2

The world is awash with geniuses.

She told me "I can see it all now, being reported on the evening news; elderly (I prefer sr. citizen, sounds younger) man arrested for drag racing on the streets of Winter Park." Then told me if I get picked up she's not bailing my knarly old butt out of jail(her words). But honey, I didn't race him....just kinda baited him. "Doesn't matter, you shouldn't be doing stuff like that."  Then about an hour later I heard her on the phone, laughing herself silly telling her sister all about it....saying "he's still sixteen years old."

Only in my heart and mind sweetie, only in my heart and mind. Wink

Note to Steve(Flavalk).....at least we know where two geniuses are, right? You know the intersection I'm talking about....436 & Aloma, east/west bound both have a far right lane that merges to the left. I've had occasion to "allow" hot shots to merge behind me, kinda fun actually.

Millie and I have occasion to go out with another elderly (geezer and geezerette) couple.  This couple seem to be shocked when Millie tells them how I drive the Miata,  (I drive it like it was designed to be driven cooldude ).   I guess that us older folks are supposed to act our age-----

Not me and certainly not you John! cooldude

Hey Wayne, wha cha mean about us old folkes?

I'll be cursed if I am going to grow up.

Got the 09 Dodge Crew Cab, Long Horn addition with the 390 pony Hemi.
I guess it wasn't fast enough for me.    Yesterday, with 640 miles we woke it up some more.       Magnaflow muffler & the Cold Air sysytem off the Dakota.   Had to make 2 small changes for the cold air to work.........

Did that bump up the HP or have you had a chance to dyno it yet? As for not growing up, why do you think my wife told her sister...."he thinks he's still sixteen."

The Miata now has a four into one header, cold air intake, Koni shocks, High flow cat, and bigger sway bars.  I've not grown up either.
