after an hour run on the new to me interstate 20k on the clock, temp light came on at a stop and went out in less than 30 min, next stop did it again and out after may be 20 sec and no fan came on, rode home about 40 min and parked it running to see if the fan will come on instead the dreaded light showed up again I shut off the bike only to hear this loud sound like bad bowel movement  and suddenly one of the 3 breather tubes under the bikes belly spitted out a pool of 1/4 gollon of slightly yellowish  water, grumpy adviced to check the fuses which checked out ok, then suggested to unplug the fan switch and ground the wire if fan runs the switch is bad, if it doesn't its a possible bad fan motor or wiring problems. haven't done that yet as it required removing the left rad pod. by the way over flow bottle full. any thoughts are appreciated. thank you

You've gotta check the fan. Take the pod off and check the switch. If the fan isn't coming on like it should, the motor WILL overheat. Then, if the fan works, go after other stuff. Could be a stuck thermostat, or plugged radiator, or bad waterpump, but those things are very rare cooldude

Several years ago had the same issue on my 99 IS - fan not coming on and temp light lighting  up when coming to a stop. Replaced thermostat. ...problem fixed.

How full is your overflow bottle? Too full, like the rad is burping out the fluid, but not sucking it back in? Might want to check your rad cap also, that it is on correctly (sealed).

Caution: the rap cap has a set screw to stop it from unscrewing.

But this would be the last thing I would check. Check that switch is working first before anything else. Your bike is hot and the fan is not coming one.

Disconnect the black wire from the radiator thermo switch and ground it to the motor with the key on to see if the fan is working properly. The thermo switch is the most common coolant system failure on Shadows especially on neglected/garage queen bikes. Most w/c Hondas use the same thermo switch. I had a issue the fan not coming on and rigged up a remote emergency switch setup, and purchased said switch just in case and as it turns out these beasts run extremely cool but I'm prepared for this situation.

Unplugged the fan wire switch and grounded it, fan didn't come on, fan motor then? About to purchase a fan assembly on eBay

Do you have a voltmeter? Disconnect the fan power plug (2p, under right neck cover) and verify you have voltage at it.

If not...start looking elsewhere, beginning with the fuse which supplies power to that circuit.

Might look to make sure there isn't anything stopping the fan from turning. I can't remember ever hearing of a fan motor going bad, but, not impossible cooldude

Shout out to jack aka flrider for helping coming over and help install  the radiator, fan motor was the culprit, was toast, fan from ebay with 28 dollars shipped bolted right on, and grounded with the fan switch ad wala its spinning, we filled up the rad, run it for a while thermostat kicked in, added a bit more coolant, a bit later fan kicked and off for lunch  and we had a nice chat over lunch at Clermont buffalo wings, then rode the Clermont hills for an hour or so and back. thank you also for the gift jack. thanks to all those that help with the diagnosis. blessed to be surrounded by this great group of people
