Meriwether Lewis Death and Burial Site

22Dasher and I took a short trip down the Natchez Trace Parkway this morning to catch some wind and visit the site where Meriwether Lewis (of the Lewis and Clark expedition) met his death in 1809. First photo is the "stand" or what is now referred to as an Inn where he was shot. Historically there has been uncertainty whether he committed suicide or he was murdered. The information plaque inside the Grinder Inn now suggests that historians are leaning towards suicide.
Following is the information plaque telling a little about Merimether Lewis.
Northeast about 800 feet from where he died, the state of Tennessee erected a monument on his burial site.

Hi Jim,
Thanks for the invite and the ride. It was a pleasure meeting you and catching some wind together. Great photos you took as well. Thats sure a good looking pair of bikes. Lets take another trip soon.
