my wife says I am to the right of Ghengis Khan (hint not a liberal)

So regardless of your political inclinations  this series of rides will cover a lot a terrific scenery

Gig are you still in?  G-Man?  Skyhawk?

Perkins drive at top of Bear Mtn on the Friday ride
http://nysparks.com/parks/13/details.aspx

If there are no rock slides we will take 218 up to Newburgh along the  cliffs
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NzJrzZPuXnI

and stop at the motorcycle museum for a spell, some great stuff there

Aw Gary, you know how I feel about OCC, terrible service at the restaurant, its all about selling stuff and no history there,

Give me a place with a hundred old Indians from every year, lots of unusual bikes and no pressure to buy a t shirt anytime

Are you gonna be able to come any of the 3 days?

I was hoping to ride this bike to the October ride Oss is sponsoring, but, this is what she looks like at the moment.

And that alone isn't what is stopping me, it's when I looked closer to the headlights, I found this mess.

One of the PO'S couldn't figure out how to reuse the light springs and decided JB weld, or some such wonderful product, would hold the bulbs better.

Then there's the wiring, which looks heavy duty, but the plugs are unprotected and the rubber covers are missing.

Ordered all new from Procaliper, but doubt I'll get the parts in time to install everything.

Luckily, I have options.

My original Valk with my buddy Jack and his awesome Road King Hack job.

Yeah Rob, I was looking forward to getting her out.

Oh well.

Hope the weather holds out, or improves, weather liars are saying overnight lows this weekend in the 30's.

 Undecided

Its still too early for the 10 day forecast but I am putting in my best prayers for a clear, dry and  cool 65 degree weekend

Some colors are already coming out in the Catskills!!!

Ive been speaking with some friends who ride sportsbikes shaming them that they only ride 20 -50 miles at a time and they need to do a 200 mile ride or shut up about how they are riders.

To me an epic ride is all day with or without friends, for a bunch of days followed by a different way home.

Gary any days you come you are welcome of course.

Oss

feelin just a wee bit down about attendance, and wondering if anyone from Michigan, Ohio or the midwest may come ride with us
Pretty sure this year is not on any southerners list, maybe next year?

Looks like I have two weeks to install tars on two bikes and decide which of the two bikes to ride for the following two weeks.

You staying over or just up for the day?

Plan was for 930 start on Friday

Bear Mtn overlooks, Perkins Drive tower, Fort Montgomery, Cliff Road, Motorcycle Museum, 9D tunnel, Cold Spring,  BBQ, Rt 301, passing thru the Croton Reservoirs and watershed and top and bottom walks in Croton Dam park (money shots)

9am Saturday  That will be the longest long ride thru Harriman, Delaware Water Gap, Catskills and down the Taconic.

930 Sunday  back roads to and thru CT and the covered bridges if time permits up to Mass covered bridge.

One week to go...

Just throwing this out there. If anyone attending needs a hotel room, I have reservations made at two different locations. My buddy isn't able to make it, so I have rooms available in each.

Springhill Suites, the original location that Oss put together. I don't know if they're honoring the discounted rate of $170 ish (?), reg is $239. Two rooms available here.

Extended Stay in White Plains-Elmford. My backup, $125/night. I'll probably keep one of these for myself, so one is available.

If this works for anyone, let me know sooner than later. I need to cancel whatever I don't want in the next few days....

We need some help from Canada.

They need to put together a real strong weather high front, push it towards us and push Matthew out into the Atlantic.

I sometimes complain about the weather they send us and always complain about their geese, but now I'm looking for some help.

You're up early!

The weather liars are saying Matthew MAY hug the coast and hit here Saturday night and Sunday, or, MAY blow out to sea.

Ha, 30 years ago, I used to work in a bar and we'd do inventory once a month after work.

Ok this is going to be the last day I ask stupid questions about NYC. As I understand it I will have 1 toll bridge on the route to Oss's ? I also understand there are 3 ways of going thru. EZPASS, exact change, and a regular pay. Do you guys know what the exact change one is ? Are my assumptions correct ?

Cost of bridge toll is $8.  No discount for cash and no exact change needed.  There are two choices of toll lanes 1)EZ Pass (purple lanes) or   2) EZ Pass and cash (non purple lanes).  Choice 2 lanes are manned and give change and receipts.

I think it's just the Whitestone or Throgs Neck bridge to get to the Bronx.
After that I don't think there's anything else....

Right Gary?

After the bridge, Google brings you up the Sprain Brook Pkwy.
That's a pretty ride.
