For anyone looking to get a lot more performance out of their Valkyrie Bob Smith Attic Rat is the man to see.
I had the most wonderful experience with Bob and gained what I hope to be a lasting friendship through the experience.
Bob's work far exceeded my expectations. He starts by cleaning the carbs and rebuilding them with interstate springs for a faster response. Then he mills the heads followed by a polishing and porting. He removes all the smog crap and extra performance robbing vacuum lines. Best of all that annoying clicking sound from the pair valves is gone. He rebuilt my petcock for a nominal fee along with changing the Pistons so the valves fit with the new decreased head size. There is much more that he does as part of this package that I am forgetting here.
He is meticulous to the point that he misses nothing and does many things along the way to clean up or improve fit and finish. I have fresh oil and filter, flushed and filled radiator with all new hoses, new fuel lines and so much more. He sent  pics regularly to update me on the progress and spent time educating me along the way. I have never had such a great experience having work done.
I wish that he lived closer because he has so many cool valkyries that he has built from the frame up. These are one of a kind beautiful bikes. If he lived closer I would probably stop by regularly just to see what he is up to now on a regular basis.
His prices are extremely reasonable for the amount of time, and detail.

It was 45 degrees the day I picked it up. So the test ride was shorter than I would have liKed. But in the short time I did ride the differences in performance both at the low and high end of each gear were clearly evident. The bike pulled much harder at both ends of each gear and all the way through. Another form member made the trip with me and after riding mine plans to make the trip to Oklahoma soon.
Will post more regarding differences when it warms up and I have the time to get out on some familiar roads and really put it through the paces.

Thanks for everything Bob

Great testimony to Bob's awesome service and personal attention to every detail of his work and skill. I've heard nothing but great things from anyone and everyone that's taken their Valk to him. I've also spoken with Bob and enjoyed every minute of his time. I hope to bring him some work some day soon - very soon I hope.  cooldude

Ditto!

I have spoken to Bob a couple of times and both times it involved carbs. Really helped me a lot when I was rebuilding my Hotrod. I need to take my Hotrod over to Bob's to get his performance package.

I made this trip with RXValk.
Actually referred him to Bob.  I Plan to make the same performance upgrade myself as soon as I am able to get my finances square.
Bob is an impeccable Man!  With more knowledge of the Valkyrie than I could ever Imagine to learn.
Question not his abilities!
Attic Rat is (in my opinion)  The Valkyrie Performance Master!

What would be really cool is to see Dino charts of 1) stock Valkyrie, 2) Attic Rat Valkyrie, 3) Supercharged Valkyrie. Put the results on one sheet and compare.
Sounds like Attic Rat mods help low end torque.

I'm planning on taking a salvage Interstate engine to Bob for port work (+ ?) and it's going to go into my supercharged Valkyrie when it's done. I'll try to get before and after dyno charts if I can swing it. I've had a hard time finding a motorcycle dyno here in Kansas City.

Bonn , we have a dyno for sale.
I have bought and sold to atticrat (Bob) and consider him a friend. He knows the Valks better than anyone else in my opinion. He has helped me and my brother (old2soon) on different issues when we (I) got stumped. Honest and a straight shooter.
One of these days my Valk will be there for a modification.

For goodness sake, sell it to Bob! My wife lets me keep four bikes but I'm pretty sure she'd draw the line at a dyno in the basement.   police

Had my 98 done over a year ago. Starts without choke and he says if I keep it under 3k I can get really good mpg. Short of professional help I don't think I will ever get it done, but it's like having a brand new bike. His bike jack is great. I can spin the bike like a roulette wheel and you can eat off his floor. Great that he is 10 miles away. Glad I am not the only one that knows how good he is with Valks. Oh yeah, gives the newer Valks a run for their money.

I read your post about beating the 1800. Did you beat an HD 110 CVO too?

I am yet another happy customer of attic rat. I've posted about it a few times. Better running, better fuel mileage and oh yeah, it hauls A@@. I've been wanting to dyno it since out-running my buddy's heavily modded 103" road glide that dynoed 115 h.p. I think their dyno is a bit optimistic, but still. I've seen 140 on the speedo (no windshield, bags) and it will pull the front wheel up in first if I roll off the throttle and bang it wide open. I recently pulled a 7.75 in the 1/8 mile on a terrible track surface, It will do better. One of these days I'll get a gopro and post some of my stupidity on youtube.  Grin

Cant wait to see the vids 140mph wowHavent had a chance to really open her up. Will have to try that when it warms up. Rode it down in OK and didn't know the roads with lots of traffic. Good to know about the HD 103 though as I have a couple friends who have those and was hoping to walk away from them this summer.

Any recommendations for a Chicagoland expert?  Carbs need an overhaul....my first two attempts proved that I am indeed an accountant and not a mechanic.   It was fun to rip 'em out the first time, not so much the second time.  I may try one more time when it warms up a bit, but thinking I need a backup plan.   The commute to Oklahoma is a bit far.

Finally....thanks to all for their input into this great web site.  It's a great resource!

I suggest that you contact Attic Rat and box them up and send them to him to rebuild!! He will do you right on the carb work!!!

I agree with Hoovey. He has lots of guys box them up and send them over. He has a sonic cleaner that gets them so clean you could eat off them.

Question for AtticRat: I have seen pictures of your jack while following your progress on rebuilt bikes. At the time I was really wondering what type of jack that you use, it looks very different.
Anyway, that you could post a pic of the jack and who makes it? Or did you modify it for your use?

I've seen his jack in a few pictures... it might be one of these, I got one recently and like it a lot:

There was a company that made my jack in Florida but they went out of business a long time ago. My jack was made here in Tulsa. I had a guy copy the factory jack and I love it. It has 2 pins that are 1/2 inch that goes into the two hole in the engine. The plate attasches to the bottom of the engine and will swivel 360 degrees you can grab the handle and pull or push it about anywhere you want to go on the pavement

After Bob did his performance job I had him set me up with one of his jack set ups. Uses a standard car jack and someone increases the stance. Then has a plate that attaches to the bottom of engine with a "king pin" that attaches to a hole in the plate that is adapted to the jack. Totally secure and rotates 360 degrees without moving the jack. Simple and makes everything easy to get to. If I could figure out how to post pics I would

Anyone here have their interstate done by Bob. I think my state is a strong runner, it will beat some cvo's110 with mild upgrades intake breather, pipes and a race tuner, Along with my RG 103 with the same upgrades, not even close there. But I'm thinking you can never have enough torque cooldude
