Breather cap on differential
«

Anyone know how to remove the breather cap from the differential? I want to replace mine with a new one but but pulling and twisting it doesn't seem to be doing any good.

It should just pop off.
I forget, might be an o-ring on it.
But, just pry it up.

No o ring, just a press fit. You might break the top off if you pry too much. I had a new one on my shelf and used a pair of pliers

Made me curious the following is copied from the Shop Manual;
BREATHER HOLE CLEANING
CAUTION
Re careful not to deform or damage the breather cap.
Remove the breather cap.

Grab it with a big pair of channel locks and MAKE it come off...
I've tried to get them off without mashing them up, I've never done it.
You have a new one, so you can see how it is made... grab and twist
will be bad for the old cap, but not put a bunch of stre$$ on your final
drive case...
