Hey guys like the post says, I just got a used rear wheel from a member who had it for a spare and never used it. I have been advised probably has 50K miles on it.
I am planning either a 205/55 or 205/50 ad08R by Yokohama.
What I am looking for are suggestions on the wheel bearings, especially concerning the double row mod...namely to do it or not.
Another question about the dampers. Are the urethane ones still available or I am I stuck with the oem set up.
Thanks in advance

I replaced a set after 55k just because. But there really wasn't much wear on them and I'm holding on to them for a backup. Also I've got a combined 270k on 2 bikes with the stock single row bearings with no problems.

I am aware of several cases of single row rear bearing failures, in fact Mitch and the boys did an emergengy bearing change on Bill's bike at the FCR this year to get him home.  (Thank God Dennis had the tools and parts with him to do the job)  I have never heard of anyone having a double row bearing failure after doing the mod.  I have done the mod on my IS (106,000 mi) and plan to do it on my Standstate probably at next DS change (currently 68,000 mi).  I have seen no rhyme or reason for the single row failures, only that they go and usually when you are far from home.

As far as urathne bushings go, the source for these, Gary, passed away a few years back.  I'm not aware of another source.

Shouldn't need to replace the bearings for milage sake.  I'd leave them alone if they look good and turn smoothly.

Order dampeners for the Interstate, much better than the ones for the Tourer or standard

A good source of bearings is Bearing Belt & Chain. On Buckeye just East of 7th St in PHX.

The stock bearings crapped out at 103000+ miles. And when I ride I ride the snot out of her!  2funny If I get 100000+ miles out of the new ones I'll be happy!  Wink NOT sayin pullin the front end up under acceleration hastened the process but it likely didn't extend the process either.  Roll Eyes These Valkyries we ride are-addictive!  cooldude Been D/S awhile now and currently on the Austone Taxi tire-which rides and handles fine-Dragon-U S 129 in N C-tested and approved!  coolsmiley RIDE SAFE.
