Interesting problem.  I installed LED turn signals front & rear on Jade.  Replaced the flasher unit with one made to drive LED's.  All sockets are 1157's.  The rear LED arrays are the old school type, 48 LED's on a matrix board, fronts are surface mount.  Did the front LED indicator mod - my version using 2 LED diodes in the indicator sockets to provide separate polarized ground paths for the front signals while providing the flashing light in the indicator. Works fine until you start the bike.  Now the right side rear lights only, gives a very short flash of light out of the turn bulb (and the corresponding "eye" diodes of my Highlighter with Spartan outline with eyes). The frequency is the same as the left, and the front bulbs and turn indicators operate normally.  And it's intermittant.  Seems to be voltage related.  If I power the bike with a battery charger at 14.4v, it does the same as running - in both cases, intermittantly - only the right side, only the rear bulb and "eye", only with higher voltage, and only sometimes. Both sides in the back have hard wire grounds.  The turn signals have a ground in common (left & rt same ground). The Highlighter has it's own ground.  Brightness looks equal and the brake signals are unaffected.

Now I just checked it again and it happened w/o adding extra voltage.  Then it didn't.

Seems to be something related to the flasher relay.

Ideas?  BonS?

Mark , not familiar with that system , but if I had it, the first thing I would do would be to put a clip on ground to the light base as a temporary additional ground.
Then run the system check. Also, check for voltage in the ground wire to see if there is a backfeed. It could be a halo effect. You know , a poldergiest. Double check the ground and supply to the flasher. Is it a two or three pole flasher. (spades)
If you do not have full voltage and it is an electronic flasher , this also could contribute.

Some years back I changed everything to LED except my headlight and driving lights. I tried everything known to man to get the fool thing to flash right....light bulbs in the circuit for extra load, LED compatible flasher, etc., nothing worked totally, always had a glitch. Finally broke down and bought the diode kit from Kuryakyn and removed everything else. Result.....been working perfect ever since, probably 10 yrs. or more.

sounds like a ground loop condition like houses use to be wired before the latest codes which don't allow that.
take out a ground one at a time and see if any better.

No.  Been working on stuff with higher priority.  Seems to be VERY intermittant.  I'll look into it when I can.

I had to add diodes to the lines to get my LED's to behave. The turn signal indicator was the culprit but since there is now all LED lighting, I went overboard and added one at every point. Why the makers of the LED's won't put them on the board is beyond me.
